Question about Toggle

Post by chinoverme1 »

Hi:
I'm using an URC 8910 with it's extender. I have 3 dvices, Sony TV, Sony VCR and LG DVD-R with HDD. Both Sony components have Discrete Power codes but the LG DVD doesn't. Here I use the TOAD/TOG.
I've made a routine that when I press TV it turns ON the TV and forces DVD and VCR OFF. When I press DVD it turns ON the TV and DVD and turns OFF the VCR. When I press VCR it turns ON the TV and VCR and turns OFF the DVD.
The problem is that when I'm recording in the DVD or VCR, and I want to watch TV, if I press TV, it will turn OFF the VCR and/or DVD.
Is there any way that when the VCR or DVD are recording, the remote knows this and don't turn OFF the VCR or DVD? Maybe using the TOAD/TOG function.

Thanks in advance

I believe that you CAN do this, but ONLY if you initiated the recording by a press of the corresponding "Record" button. If you are talking about a timer recording, ToadTog cannot help you.

My simple solution would be to remove the "OFF" functions for the unused devices in your "ON/Setup" macros on the device buttons. Do you really CARE if the VCR stays on when you shift from the VCR to viewing a DVD? Sometimes I end up with all of my equiment on, although I'm only using the Satellite dish and not the VCR, DVD or Laserdisc player. I still have an "All OFF" macro on the Power button, so that when I'm done with all viewing, everything turns off regardless.

Thank you for your quick reply.
How can I program a macro with your suggestion of using TOAD/TOG?

Thanks
