Back after 3 years

Post by bso8870 »

I own the 15-2104 and several years ago programmed all my devices on this remote with the JP1 cable. Well, I got a new directv box and was trying to re[program this onto the remote. I somehow erased the whole remote and cannot find my saved file.

I have read everything and I am totally lost. I have the software KM and IR.
I need to start from scratch, and do one device at a time.

I have a Zenith Inteq 60 inch tv, and I need to start from scratch to upload this onto remote. The only thing I have is the basic codes from the site for a zenith tv. There are no files in the file section for this tv. I have read on this site for the last three days and unable to locate how to program from scratch.

I am completely lost, and just need a push in the right direction.

I feel completely ignorant and I know I am just missing something to get me started. If someone is willing to help, I would appreciate it.

Do you still have the original remote that came with the TV?

If you do, you can create your own device upgrade for the TV as described in JP1 - Just How Easy Is It?.

If you created upgrades (3 years ago) when you first programmed the remote, did you load them up to the JP1 file section? If so, they should still be there for you to download now.

Back then, you would have loaded them to the Yahoo file section, and one of us would have copied them over to the file section here, but if you can't find them here, take a look over at Yahoo.

Yes, I have the original tv remote. I read the beginner article, and I cannot find where it mentions using the original remote, It says something about learning buttons, but doesn't explain how to do it.

It is in there, section 6. How Do You Create An Upgrade From Scratch?.

Specific instructions for learning is at The correct learning procedure.

All of that information is in the sticky threads ( there's only 6 of those) of the JP1 - Beginners section, where you asked your question. I don't understand why you couldn't find it.

The part about learning the remote is not in the section "creating upgrade from scratch". There is no explantion in that section. Thanks for the link to learning, but I could have done w/out the condescending talk.

Greg is one of several people who have gone to great effort to make our programs and documentation easier. You have to expect some level of complaint when he finds himself answering questions that shouldn't have needed to be asked.

At least he answered, and you needed less effort (though probably more time) than looking for it yourself. When someone is assisting you in that way, you can let their attitude tell you to try a little harder to find it yourself next time, or you can ignore their attitude. But complaining about that attitude can't help. At best it will convince people not to give you the attitude or the help next time.
