Tower fan - help create upgrade

If you have learned signals that don't get decoded when you look at them in IR.exe, post your file to the Diagnosis Area then post your question here (including a link to the file).

Tower fan - help create upgrade

Post by vdubuclet »

I purchased a tower fan from target, The Hawaiian Breeze. I learned the signals in IR here

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3439

I attempted to create a Rm file, which is not working. I have uploaded the file here

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3438

I have tried the KM file here without sucess

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=2848

Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to get this to work first on my test URC-7800. But ultimatley I will want it to work on my 8811 with 6012 extender.

I compared your IR and RM files. They don't match.

You RM file has the wrong device number for OFF, Osc, and Timer.

Also, you've got different device numbers for OFF and On/Speed, but your learned signals show them as being the same.

It looks like 1L (On/Speed) and 4L (Mode) should be working now.

The fan has two device codes 31 and 25 both under the Old Panasonic protocol.

The off and on buttons learned signal show the same signal,

Device 31
Sub device - blank
OBC - 63
EFC - 181 or 189 or 165

I am assuming that the "on" button is one EFC and the "off" is another EFC. When I enter 181 in RM it defaults to 31 as the device. When I enter 165 as the EFC RM sets the device to 25 and when I enter 189 for the EFC RM sets the device to blank. None of the buttons in the IR file will operate the fan

I don't trust a decode of device 31, OBC 63. I think it is a decode error.

Anyway, the choice of three EFC values does NOT represent three different signals. It represents three possible EFC numbers for the same signal, with the difference based on info RM has and the decoder doesn't. So RM correctly shows you that (based on what you put on the setup sheet) 181 is the right EFC for that device and OBC.

So where does that leave me?

Rob,
Tried the file it and it did not work. Could I be doing somthing wrong in my IR file. I posted it here with your upgrade and two others that I have tried.
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3441

I have re learned the buttons with another fan remote (i have 3), and with my 8811 with the same OBC/EFC results. Would this rule out a decode error?

The dispair is setting in. My JP1 remote has conqured a Sony LCD HDTV, Xbox360, Panny Reciever, Phillips DVD, and my Tivo and my goal of one remote will be undone by a stupid fan.

I didn't have time to test the upgrade before I posted it, so I could have made a mistake in it. If I get a chance, I will try testing it to see if the output is correct (but if anyone else wants to jump in, be my guest).

Here's what I got from the original learns...

freq = 37.735
1 = +636 -1914
0 = +1908 -642
lead-in = n/a
lead-out = -20410
(repeat complete signal while held)

11001100 00101101 00101101 off
11001100 00111010 00111010 osc
11001100 10100111 10100111 mode
11001100 10011101 10011101 timer
11001100 11000101 11000101 on/speed
