linksys media extender

Post by cam18e »

Hi everyone,

I have a linksys media extender which i am trying to build a remote control for the slingbox. I believe the remote may be compatible with the windows media centre edition remote control.

I learnt all codes using IR where it came up as

protocol: MCE
device: 4
sub device: 15

Now, in RM it has notes on that the MCE protocol is the same as RC6-6-32 but i do not know what i set the device and sub device to?

Does any1 have a ready made file for the media centre?

Thanks, cam

If you are using RM, then don't use the RC6-6-32 protocol, use the MCE protocol. There the fields of your decode match exactly. The protocol help states:
...in Microsoft MCE, device is 4 and OEM2 is 15,
but if you insist on using the RC6-6-32 protocol it goes on:
so the RC6-6-32 device is 128 and subdevice is 4+256*15+(either 128 or 0)=either 3844 or 3972
As far as pre-prepared upgrades, have you read the Number 1 Code Search FAQ? If you had, you would have been prompted to look in the Imagefile section for an upgrade. Have you done so? There, in the Miscellaneous section, you will find a Windows Media Center upgrade there (and it's been downloaded over 500 times, so I suspect that it might work). But this uses "manual settings" to generate the protocol, which is identical to the protocol output from RM when you select MCE.
