IR 6.15 freezes - "Protocol list not found after device

Post by rks »

Hi,

I am using IR 6.15 with RDF CPT0CPT0 for my URC8910b02. I am able to perform an interface check successfully. IR freezes after downloading remote, with warning "Protocol list not found after device list"

After a LOOOONG time, I get Access Violation error, 004B3c96 in module 'ir.exe'. Write at address E7F3585B.

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks,

Erik :x

It sounds like you have corrupted data in the remote. Go to the Advanced menu and select "Enable Raw Download" then use the RAW DOWNLOAD button to download the data from the remote and post the file in the Diagnosis Area for us to look at (and post a link to it here).

As I suspected, you have corrupt data in there. There's a ton of upgrades in this memory and the address pointers are pointing to the wrong location. Furthermore, I suspect that these upgrades are not really for this remote, so they won't be much use to you anyway.

If, just out of curiosity, you'd like to see the upgrades, open the raw file that you posted using a text editor (like Notepad) and then change the first 4 bytes at address $0100 to "03 a7 03 f1", then open the file using IR.exe

Then, once your curiosity is done, delete them all and re-load to the remote.

Bad remote???

Post by rks »

I got this remote from a PriceGrabber Storefront, "used, just like new". The unit was unable to upgrade from the phone, and I discovered that the factory reset does not work.

Is there a more drastic way to erase the contents? IR slows down my system whenever that port is open.

Thanks for your help. Perhaps I'll consider a "new" unit from you if this one is not replaced.

Bad checksum error

Post by rks »

The IR program seems to respond better now, thanks. But, I got an warning message, "Bad checksum address at $0000. Expected $C6 $36, but found $39 $C6". The unit now doesn't reset with message "Bad E2", nor can I do IR learning.

Thanks again,

Erik

Bad Raw file for URC-8910B02

Post by rks »

This Raw file produces the warning message described in the link above. The unit can not be reset, nor IR signals learned.

Thanks,

RKS

Have you tried a MFR reset, or just an OPS reset?

I did an OPS reset , i.e. "Set, up, up, select, select". I don't know what a MFR (manufacturer?) reset is.

Not a Deadhead, although a minor fan. It's a character in the "Wild Cards" series of novels/short stories edited by George R. R. Martin. I just liked the name, and it seemed to "fit" since I'm a Captain in the Navy.
