I recently purchased a OFA 6131n remote at a local Wal-Mart. I'm trying to program a CD changer so that I can use a 'shift key', and then use the # pad to tell it what disk # to change to.
I've checked all advanced codes, and don't haven't found a 3-digit advance code to use to program it this way. Is it possible to do it without a JP1 cable? Thanks.
Note: CD player code is 0072 if it matters.

The "shift" key is the "Set" key, and I believe you can manually program a keymove onto a "shifted" key just like you can to a regular key (I may be wrong, but during the programming sequence, simply press "Set-#" when you get to the step where you would normally press "#")
If this doesn't work (or even if it does), you can program any keymoves to shifted keys in IR (As this is a non-JP1 forum, I assume you DON'T have a cable - I highly recommend you get one).
The problem in any event is that to send a "shifted" button, for MOST buttons you press "shift-Play" for example, but for NUMERIC keys, you must press "Shift-Shift-#". So your functionality would still be a bit awkward. (The reason is that pressing numeric keys after a "shift" command tells the remote that you are sending an EFC (Advanced Code) directly from the keypad - like if Channel up is EFC 024, then "Shift-0-2-4" would send the channel up command.)
I would HIGHLY recommend not only getting/making a cable, but also use of the extender, which allows you to use the SET (shift) key as you desire, but also allows other options, like using a SHORT keypress of a number key to send the number command, and LONG press of that number key to send the Disc-X command, for example (like I have set up in my system)
