Interesting problem with new device upgrade for Anthem AVM?

General JP1 chit-chat. Developing special protocols, decoding IR signals, etc. Also a place to discuss Tips, Tricks, and How-To's.

It is from UEI, it has a JP1 connector and I have DL'd it into IR.
Did IR identify an rdf to match the remote? (What is it?) or do you have only a "Raw Data tab? You should post this download to the diagnosis area and post a link so one of the experts can have a first look.

(also, I'm curious to see if the KM upgrade I created works for your Amp)

The remote itself looks like it could be UEI also.
Since rmassey has confirmed this is in fact a UEI remote, I wonder if Robman should take some credit for its design?!
It bears a REMARKABLE similarity in layout to the "PERFECT REMOTE" Rob designed several years ago (even giving it a Radio Shack designator) that was never built by anybody!

Go ahead, compare the two pictures side-by-side. The similarity is UNCANNY! 8)

Sorry, they don't look very similar to me.

The top to bottom sequence of some major button groups is the same:

digits
vol+- ch+- etc.
arrows and select
transport control.

But beyond that there isn't much similarity beyond being black and typical remote shape).

OK. To each his own. To my reckoning, the sequencing of the button groups was one of the primary aspects. Forgive my enthusiasm, but other than having too few devices, it looks pretty good to me.

Just FYI, the Anthem remotes are usually Cat48 remotes.

I tried your device upgrade and it works fine on the 8910, thanks.

I uplodaed the Anthem AVM factory remote read via IR 6.20, located here:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3250
Did IR identify an rdf to match the remote? (What is it?) or do you have only a "Raw Data tab?
The .ir file contains five devices OEM: 0040-0044. 0040 = Main, 0041 = Zone2, 0042=Zone3. The file also contains one protocol. The pwer commands are mapped to Power (on) and Last(off) in the .ir file.

Looks like OEM 0043 has the same on/off EFC as 0040 (Main)
OEM 0044 has the same on/off EFC as 0042 (Zone3).

I'm not sure why we have five devices with dups for main and Z3?

Also it's interesting, when I learned the cmds, it only shows OBC whereas when I read the factory remote it provides EFCs.

I will begin looking at the factory remote this week for use with Z2, Z3 and let you know what parts of the mian zone are carried over to the Zones 2 & 3. Perhaps the uploaded factory file will tell you enough info too.

Looking at your ir file. It is a cat48 type remote such as the gateway and outlaw audio remotes. It would not take much to redo the gateway rdf to fit your anthem remote. It is an 8 device remote as the main, z1, and z2 buttons are actualy device buttons. Thats why they show up as tv,vcr, and dvd on the download you got from it.
