IR Device Import/Export

I have differently programmed remotes where some of the devices are the same. So there are multiple IR file which represent the way I want to deal with a particular device.

When I make a change, it is a pain to change all the IR files which refer to that device. Is there a way to export just the stuff fro one device and import it into another IR file?

Assuming I understood your question, yes you can, so long as each IR file is for the same brand remote. Otherwise, I think, you'll break the button assignments. Also built-in vs not-built-in protocols need care.

On both Device and Protocols tab use the edit button to copy to clipboard one upgrade and/or protocol then paste into the second session of IR. You'll need to fill in type and setup code by hand on the devices tab, and protocol id on the protocols tab.

What about keymoves? You can copy all keymoves from IR through ECC. There you can select what you need and copy and paste back into the other IR. Macros can also be handled via ECC but you'll need a temp sheet before transfer to the keymoves worksheet, so it might not be worth the effort.

If you have Special protocols keymoves, you'll need to copy them using the old format of button numbers, not button names. For that, remove or comment out the relevant special protocols sections in RDF, at which point all the SPs will end up in the keymove bucket for the move.

Isn't it simpler to just edit the upgrades from one remote to another in RM or KM? or am I missing the whole point?

Yes, but as you point out below, all this stuff came from RM and might as well come from there again.
