Because I have had reports from several users who have had problems with the B01 Kameleons (that have a 4k EEPROM installed), I am trying to run some tests on these myself and I'm running into problems.
Sometimes the data downloads just fine and it matches the current B01 RDF, but sometimes the memory image has shifted forward, so a number of bytes are missing from the beginning of the memory image, but on closer inspection, you'll find that the missing bytes are actually at the end of the image possibly with a different checksum).
Here is an example of where the data HAS wrapped around:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=2944
And here is an example, from the same remote, where the data has NOT wrapped around:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=2945
Just FYI, I'm usin a "Dan Classic" powered parallel interface. I've tried this both with batteries in the remote and without. I've also tried changing the transmission speed in IR.
Any clues?

Re: Download/Upload problem with 4k URC-9960 B01 Kameleon
I seem to recall (and can't find it in any of my saved emails) Mark Pauker (or somebody) talking about the changes to IR that allowed it to read EEPROMs > 2K.... something about initially polling the remote to determine the EEPROM size. The Robman wrote:a number of bytes are missing from the beginning of the memory image, but on closer inspection, you'll find that the missing bytes are actually at the end of the image possibly with a different checksum).
Just thinking out loud (and I haven't checked it myself), but is your "wrapped" file is intact (except for the checksum) if you manually unwrap it? Or, is it possibly two 2k images sandwiched together?

I haven't checked the two files byte for byte, and it's possible that I tried to do a keymove or something inbetween, but I'm inclined to believe that the wrapped file is a genuine wrap.
I tried running tests on several B01 remotes and got the same results, so I am suspending sales of this unit until this issue is resolved.
However, I have sold quite a few B01 Kameleons before now, so some of them must be working. If you have a B01 Kameleon and are able to use JP1 with it, could you please post something here to that effect.
Experts, any ideas?

I've done a bit more testing and I think the problem is limited to the newer "BJ5" Kameleons. I've taken both a BJ4 and BJ5 Kameleon apart and compared the EEPROM chips and they are different. The BJ4 chip is a standard EEPROM but the BJ5 appears to be some sort of generic chip or something.
The BJ4 chip reads:
CSI
24WC32J
0314B (or 03148, I can't quite tell)
The BJ5 chip reads:
A91SC
C412

I have read and re-read the JP1 programming articles available. I believe I have one of the problem remotes you describe on the hifi-remote sale page. I'm having difficulties with my Kameleon URC9960 BO1 purchased March 6. My paypal ID was mrlots2do@yahoo.com. I've put together a photo album showing what I see on the monitor.

Other error pop-up windows also display but I don't know how I got them.
A few remarks as to what the remote does/does not do.
1) It will not learn any device master codes to turn on or off a device.
2) TV- Sanyo code 0154. Manually accepts code for tv, get nearly all buttons except tv/video mode.
3) DVD- Pioneer Elite DV45A code 0525. Manually accepts code for dvd, get nearly all buttons except tv/video mode, eject, does not start disc in dvd player until play button depressed on dvd player. After that remote will operate play, pause, fast forward/back, chapter forward/back. Does not go to dvd player programming menu.
4) Receiver- Sony STR-DA4ES code 1758. Manually accepts codes for receiver, get increase/decrease volume, dsp works in one direction (changing music style), will not change input source (cd, dvd, vcr, cable, etc), will not change input source type (2 channel, multi channel, Dolby Digital, etc), will not change EQ.
5) I believe learning key function works however the remote has download errors to program. This info is lost due to something causing errors.
6) When using RemoteMaster, what keyboard do I select for the Kameleon 9960 BO1?
Please help me.
Phil
PS. How do I create and use a wav file.

As I've described in the earlier posts, IR.exe doesn't work well with the BJ5 Kameleon. It's not a problem with the remote, it is a software problem. The author of IR is working on a fix as we speak.

Funny you should mention a software issue. IR.exe appears to be reading expected information as something other than expected. See links to pics of the error! The Robman wrote:IR.exe doesn't work well with the BJ5 Kameleon. It's not a problem with the remote, it is a software problem. This issue has been fixed with the 6.20 release of IR.exe
You need to use the Interface > "Force >= 4k" option
