Why do USB JP-1 cables cost so much?

Why do USB JP-1 cables cost so much?

It appears that JP-1 cables for USB cost more than twice what they cost for Parallel. Why is this so?

You need to understand that the USB cable isn't just a cable. It's a USB-to-JP1 adapter. The simple parallel JP1 cable is really just a cable.
