I get a 'Device Upgrade Load Error' when importing any upgrade file from the Device Combiner tab in RM (v1.41 or v1.44), including upgrades saved by RM.
The error log has a screenful of 'Translator.in() index=0 missing parameter value' messages.
What kind of file is Import supposed to read?
I'm trying to do what Robman did in this thread: https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=273
The simple upgrade is fine, but I can't figure out the Device Combiner.
Thanks
Device Combiner import working in RM?

I'm sorry, but I can't tell exactly what you are trying to do. Please list the exact steps you are taking and I'll take a look.

RM 1.44
1. File -> New
2. Remote -> Replay 5000
3. Protocol -> Device Combiner
4. Device Combiner Tab
5. Import -> Panasonic HT-05fix.rmdu
Device Upgrade Load Error
Same result for ReplayTV-5000.txt or any other device upgrade file I've tried. What file types does Import support?
My goal is to use Device Combiner to create an upgrade that assigns volume/mute keys to the Panasonic HT-05 and Power to a 0156 setup code Toshiba TV. Device Combiner's Add function works fine, and since I'm only trying to assign 4 keys I should probably just enter everything manually, but I guess I'm not understanding what Import is supposed to do.
Thanks
Kevin

First the good news: I've found the bug causing the "Device Upgrade Load Error". I've succesfully imported functions from ReplayTV-5000.txt. RM v1.45 will be available shortly.
Now the bad news: You can't import functions from Panasonic HT-05fix.rmdu because it uses the Panasonic Combo protocol, which has 2-byte commands. Device Combiner can only be used with protocols that have 1-byte commands.
However, you can probably build yourself a small upgrade (or two) that use the plain Panasonic protocol (it has 1-byte commands) that contain only the functions you want to import.

Why do you want just 4 keys? Don't you want channel or menu etc. keys in the same device mode?
Maybe I'm missing some KeyMove restriction in the Replay 500, but I would expect mixing one key (TV/0156 power) with any number of keys from another setup code, is best done with a KeyMove rather than the device combiner.
But, if you really want Device combiner, Greg is correct that you can/should use the plain Panasonic protocol.

The R5k remote doesn't support keymover (without using the extender), so if you want to make the TV-POWER button control a different device than the VOLUME buttons, the DC is the only way to do it.johnsfine wrote:Why do you want just 4 keys? If you're planning to use the extender anyway, you probably don't need the DC.kwhumphreys wrote:once I have the Device Combiner figured out, I'll try the Replay extender.
