Ok. I don't even know what "JP1" is or means.

But, I do have one of these Ilo DVDR04 units and would like to program the URC-6131nw remote I just bought to control it.

I can't decipher how I am supposed to do that though.

Could someone walk me through it?

That's not really a good way to introduce yourself to a forum, especially one that has a beginners section and lots of documentation for beginners to read.

Yeah, you are probably right.

In my defense thouth, this forum is hard to navigate. I found it through searching and it brought me to this thread...not to the main page.

I did find the main page after I posted, but I didn't want to double post the topic in the correct forum. If I'd have done that, someone would have told me not to post the same thing in multiple threads.

Oh well.

Could we get over that and perhaps see about helping me? :D

If not, I'll just move along to a friendlier forum.

I'm thinking this isn't going to help me anyway, because I don't have the cables, etc.

...but, I don't know for sure yet.

edit: just noticed it says "Site Owner" next to your name. Great. Now, I've done it.

Maybe I can clear up my original post.

I was confused about all the advanced codes and such being listed. I thought that someone had figured out which 4 digit code to use and then you had to enter in some other codes. From what I have seen now (beginner's guide) it seems that this stuff is somehow fed in to the remote.

I doubt I'll be able to do that.

So...if there isn't a simple code to put in, just let me know and I'll be on my way.

Thanks and sorry for any confusion.

OK, I'll try. Please navigate your way to the beginners forum, there you'll see a sticky thread called "Beginners - read this thread first", and in that thread you'll find a link to a document called "JP1 - Just How Easy Is It?". If that doc doesn't get you started, then I doubt that anything will.

If you're planing on making statements like that alot, I would suggest that you also read the following document before posting again.

See edit above (was editing when you replied, I guess).

If it would be easier for me to simply post my questions in the correct format in the Non JP1 forum, let me know and I'll go that route.

It is fairly easy to do what you want. I will suggest like Rob said do some reading and you will decide jp1 is what you want to do maybe at a later date.

In the mean time those codes a few posts up are what is needed for the remote to control the r04.

Setup the remote to use internal code 0623 for dvd. Then take these steps.

1=Press the dvd key
2=Press and hold set key till 2 blinks of led
3=Press 9 9 4 and see led blink 2 times again
4=Press set once and release to see 1 led blink
5=Press 1 9 9 (efc for power)
6=Press the power key on remote (Making it power for ilo)

Then take those steps for each button you want and repace step 5 and 6 with right function and button.

You can also contact ofa for an upgrade and send them the remote and it will come back jp1 ready. If you do or dont is up to you. I do say spend a bit of time here reading some of the info these guys have put together for us and you will see there is much you can do with it.

Since you are posting in the "Code Search" forum, it is assumed that you read the sticky The #p1 Code Search FAQ and it's answer (PLEASE READ FIRST), and would provide the requested information, in the requested format.

Now, reading between the lines:

Sounds like you have a "stock" URC-6131nw, which means it hasn't been enhanced for JP1 use, so even if you had a JP1 cable it wouldn't do you any good (unless I'm wrong or you are willing to enhance it yourself).

Given that, and reading this post (only 4 above your first post) you'll see that you can use code DVD/0623 (or PVR/0623) to control your iLo. Instructions for getting your remote to use that code are in your user manual.

It also says that the buttons don't all perform the desired functions. But right here in this very thread, "The Robman" has been nice enough to provide a list of all the advanced codes that can be used to get the buttons to perform exactly the functions you want, only 2 posts above your first post.

Instructions for using these advanced codes are available here.

Note that this would all be much easier if you had a JP1 enabled remote and cable.

Just for the record, I have split this latest discussion away from the original iLo DVD recorder thread, into this new non-JP1 thread.

Worked. Thank you very much.

I have only done the power so far, but that was my main goal.
