Need Technics SA-DX1040 "Digital" Code
Hey guys-
I know this can be done, because I did it before (I think this past spring), but I hosed my remote and my .ir backup file won't work, so I have to reconstruct everything. My Technics SA-DX1040 has a "digital" button (for digital audio) that cannot be controlled by its own remote, and I was able to figure out a way to control it with my RS-2116, but for the life of me I can't figure out how I did it. Here is the info.
Device: Technics SA-DX1040
Type of device: Audio Receiver
Year: 2000
JP1 Remote model: 15-2116
JP1 user? Yes
Still have original remote? Yes
Checked the file section? Yes
Checked the Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
Partially working setup code? Yes, 1308
Learning remote question? Yes, but the original remote does not have this function. But, I know the function can be remote controlled, because I previously accomplished it.
Please, please help! Thanks in advance!

Not sure what you mean by "digital audio "
Assuming you're after digital vs analog input switch, it's a long shot, but try device 160, subdevice 0, OBC 168.
If you mean some other digital audio sound controls, they are quite numerous, so try to be more specific, please.

If you still have the non-working IR file, post it in the Diagnosis Area (and post a link to it here). Chances are good that one of us can fix the file for you.

Hey Stuart,
I just checked the file section and we don't have a file for the SA-DX1040. Did you use one of the other files for this receiver or did you create an upgrade from scratch? Either way, could you add the new code and load the final upgrade when you're done please.
I assume that you're using the "Panasonic Combo2" protocol, in which case "EA FF" translates to OBC 168 for sub-device 0.
Btw, if you change the selected protocol to "Panasonic Combo" you will eliminate the need for a protocol upgrade.

Hey Rob, thanks for suggesting I do that. I have uploaded an IR file (as a txt file) with the device upgrade (AMP 1308) and the Digital Input function mapped to AUDIO:ENTER. The file is called Technics SA-DX1040 Receiver and the url is http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=2540

I think Rob wanted a KM or RM file, not an IR file.

Yes indeed, I deleted the IR file from the upgrade area. Stu, could you load your upgrade file (ie, your KM or RM file, whichever you used). Thanks.

Ok, I understand, and am getting the hang of this. I posted the keymap upgrade file as "Technics SA-DX1040 with Digital Input function". The url is http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=2544
BTW, Rob, I posted it twice, because the first one does not work right. Please delete the one uploaded at 5:57 PM.
Thanks!

I have deleted the file, but just for future reference, you don't need to ask me to delete your files, you can delete them yourself, just click on the delete icon:smalis wrote:BTW, Rob, I posted it twice, because the first one does not work right. Please delete the one uploaded at 5:57 PM.

Hey Rob, interesting thing. When I created the upgrade file, I manually set the hex code for Digital Input to the necessary value, EA FF. Then I saved it and uploaded it. But, after downloading and opening it, Keymap changes it to OF, which will not work. How can I make the hex code change permanent?

I just looked at your file and I'm confused. I see that you have used the regular "Panasonic" protocol in this file rather than the "Panasonic Combo" that I was expecting. The inference being that your device only uses sub-device code 0, which I find highly unlikely for a Panasonic based receiver.
Also, if you're going to use the regular Panasonic protocol, you can't use the 2-byte hex code that you found. That exact hex code will only work with the redundant "Panasonic Combo2" protocol.
Furtunately for you, I translated this hex code into the appropiate sub-device code and OBC code in a previous post, so there's no need for you to use the raw hex code anyway.

I guess I'm a bit confused also, because the upgrade file definitely works with my Technics receiver. I also found that if I enter the EA FF hex code into the OBC column of the Function tab, it makes it permanent, and the upgrade works fine. So I deleted the old file, with the wrong hex code, and uploaded the new one, with the EA FF in the OBC column. In the meantime, I'll play with the Combo protocol to see if that also works.

OK, let's try and sort this out. You have a 15-2116 learning remote, so you are able to capture the signals from all the buttons on your original remote. Are you saying that every single button on the original remote uses the 0 sub-device code? If so, this is very unusual for a Panasonic based audio receiver, but if you say it's the case, I'll believe you, it just goes against everything that we know about Panasonic (aka "Technics").
Go back to the Functions sheet and right up there in the A1 cell what do you see next to the "Functions" heading?smalis wrote:Rob, is there a way to translate the 168 OBC to an EFC for me to use in the function tab of KM?
