8910 and getting the DTV H10 do I need a upgrade?

Post by veener88 »

I just ordered my Direct TV DTV H10 HDTV receiver and I am just wondering do I need to call up and get my remote upgraded for this box or should I be good to go on Saturday when they do the install? The thing that sucks is that I will not know for sure if it works till Saturday and oneforall is closed. But I get home early on Friday so I am wondering if I need to call them for a upgrade on Friday to be set for Saturday.

Thanks

There isn't a code in the 8910 for the H10, it will need to be upgraded. If you call, the code to ask for is SAT 1377.

Have you tried this upgrade file? Will need modified for your buttons but you've got a good 36 hours before your device arrives. If you've already sent your remote off for an upgrade then go and buy the cheapest JP1-enabled remote you can find, upgrade it and keep as a backup.

Depends on whether veener has a JP1 cable, doesn't it?

Sorry for assuming that you already had a cable as I know that this forum is also for those considering JP1 as well as for current users. You've still got 32 hours to build one, learn how to use it and upgrade your spare 8910, though. :D

If you haven't yet read the "Beginners - read this thread first" section then go there now for all you need to know and bext of luck with your new toy.
