Download from a MX500

Post by Its_Kemosabe »

Is it possible to download from a MX500. The female connector on the USB JP1 cable that I bought from Filebug.com can only accomodate 6 pins - the MX500 has a 7 pin male connector.

Thanks ........ Herb

Its used by URC to flash the memory of the mx-500, useless to the end user.

I think the MX500 has a computer interface similar to jp1 for the manufacture to install stuff. I am not sure if there is an after market cable available or not.

There is an after market interface for the MX-500 and MX600. It is called IRCLONE. It costs $80.

The interesting thing is that it is all done through IR signals. The 7-pin connector is not used.

Given my entry to JP1, I just thought it would be a plus to download the contents of my MX500 and save the file. I guess it's not to be.

BTW - is it possible to overlay one upgrade to another? I programmed a TiVo HD remote into a RS2116. I would like to have the volume up/down control my av unit. Rather that use a passthrough, I was wondering if I created a separate upgrade to the same device code but a different protocol for the audio volume of my Onkyo would work.

You either use VPT, or you create keymoves on the volume keys.

What's the easiest way to find/determine phantom device button availability?

Why do you want phantom device buttons?

If it's related to the previous KeyMove topic, you should know that a setup code does not need to be assigned to any device button just to be used by a KeyMove.
