I'm sorry if this is too dumb, but I'm a newbie and been reading for the past week, created my cable and played with the software.
I have a Sanyo TV (AVM 2587) and an URC 6131, which controls everything but Close Captions. Is there a way for me to take the original Remote and find what is the code of that particular button and add it to the close caption button in the URC 6131?
Thanks in advance
Finding a remote code

To do that directly, you need a learning remote and JP1 cable.
To get help finding out if someone else posted the answer somewhere, you really ought to tell us which setup code you're using. Most of the Sanyo TV data I have matches setup code TV/0154, so the first place to look for advanced codes is Rob's site:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/adv-codes.shtml#tv
and follow the link to:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/cgi-bin2/ueic.cgi?TV_0154
But I don't see anything about Close Caption there.
One of the CCF files I have for a Sanyo TV has a "Caption" command using EFC number 121.
I assume you know how to test an EFC to see if it works and how to KeyMove it the desired key if it does. If you don't know, then ask for those instructions (or read Rob's improved manual for any non LCD model from http://www.hifi-remote.com/manuals/ ).
Rob's page on TV/0154 lists EFC 121 as a "Fine Tuning" command, so if it doesn't to Caption on your TV it may be Fine Tuning and you may need to do something to undo that effect.

Excellent! I appreciate it a lot, just needed some pointers, I will read and try it, nd then will try not to bother you guys too much.
By the way, I got an IR serial interface in my PC, I wonder if I can use it with any program to find out what kind of signal the original remote sends and therefore get the code directly to that button.
I own a URC 7800 and a URC 6131, maybe the 7800 has learning capabilities, I will find out.
Thanks again!

The URC-7800 is indeed a JP1 learning remote, so this is a useful tool to have around. It's missing the 6-pin connector, but it's easy to solder one in.
You can then use the URC-7800 to learn the CC button from your TV remote, then when you download the into using IR.exe it will tell you the info that you need to either create a keymove or add the function to a KM file.

OK guys, sorry to bother again, so far here is my situation:
I got both URC 7800 and URC 6131, both with interfaces (and chip on 6131) got to program them, but got one question and one problem:
Question: are these remotes able to get extended programming?
Problem:
As Jhonsfine suggested before, I learned the code for close caption with the 7800, it is indeed 121. I did a keymove for the Audio (cc) button and didn't work, realized that only under "dvd" the button works (led blinks) so tried to reprogram the dvd to be the TV, and it doesn't respond. Aldo tried to replace in TV the "exit" button for 121 (cc) and no avail, still works as menu.
any suggestions?

I assume you tried that key move on the 6131, and if so, the unextended 6131 doesn't accept "normal" key moves done in IR. What you need to do for the 6131 is enter a 2-byte hex command insted of a 3-digit EFC in the Key Moves dialog. For EFC 121, the proper hex command is 00 79.leecher wrote:I did a keymove for the Audio (cc) button and didn't work

Until the next release of IR is available, keymoves for the URC-6131 are generally easier (read: less prone to use error) when done manually on the remote itself.
