Is it just me?

I used to be able to keep myself loged onto this forum as long as I liked by selecting the "Keep me logged on" box when I entered my ID and p/w, but now it seems that I have to re-log on everytime I access the forum.

I've tried to get tech support to help but they say that they can come back without needing to re-log on.

So my question is, do you need to keep re-entering your ID and p/w all the time?

I've not had any problems. I would guess something is going on with your browser and cookies.

I could accept that it's a cookie problem on my end if it were just happening on one PC, but it happens both at home and at work. Weird.

My first thought was the same as Greg's. On my computer, once a week Norton System Works runs a clean-up process that deletes a lot of cookies. The first time I come here after that I need to log in again. Usually the first time I forget to click the check box on, so the second time I need to log in again but for sure I remember to check the box. Then all is well until the next time I run the clean-up. Is there any chance that you just changed some security setting or installed a new utility that is doing this sort of clean-up?

I am not having the problem. My first thought also is cookies. See if you can find the cookie for this site while you are logged on and see if it is still there before your next logon.

Your not letting your browser create cookies. Try changing you browser settings to medium or allow cookies.

The thing is, I am letting my browser store cookies, and I Yahoo knows it's me everytime I go to the Yahoo site, but for some reason, both at home and at work, my own forum doesn't keep me logged on anymore.

I know this happens sometimes when the drive where you store cookies gets full, as I've had that happen before, but when that was the case, it didn't happen at work.

Rob, I don't know why but I had that problem on one of my computers and I deleted all cookies and all Internet temp files and it fixed the problem. I tried to find the offending cookie and didn't but didn't try very hard. I'm pretty sure that it was a cookie since I had previously deleted all the temporary Internet files.

I'm pretty confident it is a cookie issue.

I believe it has something to do with 2 sets of overlapping cookies being
set. When I have login problems as Rob describes, I usually find two sets
of cookies under 2 domains

1) www.hifi-remote.com
2) hifi-remote.com

Currently the forums are using hifi-remote.com but for some reason
at other times it will set cookies using www.hifi-remote.com domain.

I didn't isolate exactly when it happens, but my vague recollection is
this problem usually occurs when I briefly cannot access the forums,
which I'm guessing may mean a previous incarnation of the forums
may be started as stopgap and maybe the config for that server uses
the www.hifi-remote.com domain.

When the 2 domains are present, I think what is happening is
hifi-remote.com cookies are set and used, but upon reboot,
www.hifi-remote.com takes precedence and thus it thinks you
are not logged in again.

My solution is to just remove any cookies which go to *.hifi-remote.com
and login again.

It was the cookies, when I deleted them all I was able to stay logged on. I guess it was just some weird coincidence that it happened on both my home and work PCs at the same time.
