Comcast URC-1057 doesn't work with JP1 (JP1.1)

i made the simple interface cable. it works perfectly with the rs 15-2116 i
bought but not at all with the urc-1057 that my cable co gives out. any ideas? do i need a different cable?

Is that URC-1057 a JP1 remote (I've never heard of that model number before)? Does it have the 6-pin JP1 connector installed? If so, does it say "JP1.1" near the connector?

ah yes I have a URC-1057 as well from comcast for my DCT-2000. It does indeed have the 6-pin header for jp1 but it seems to be disabled. I haven't messed with it much though...

If it's one of the new flash-memory remotes, it's NOT compatable with JP1 even though there's a 6-pin connector. They usually have "JP1.1" on the PCB next to the connector which indicates it is a new flash remote.

You're correct, it says JP1.1 below the header. Comcast seems to give these out now instead of the navigators.

well that kinda sucks.. anyone have any idea how to build an interface to access it? i got some kinda freaky geaky thrill outta building the jp1 one that hell i'm ready to build my own super computer

Wee need to know first off what the JP1.1 connector connects to, then from there figure out an interface and how to read/write the storeage chip.

Our hardware expert, Tommy Tyler, has been looking into this and so far hasn't come up with anything.
