OFA 8811 and Onkyo cp550 DVD player

Post by Rick »

Thanks to the help from the folks here (Robman and Edmond), I've bought a OFA 8810, and have managed to assign some codes to get control of my VCR, Sat box, TV, and Recv/AMP.

But I haven't had any luck setting up the remote to control my Onkyo DVD player. I've tried the setup codes in the manual, 0503, which match the ones I've found here, but it doesnt work the DVD. I did try "learning" the on/off from the Onkyo remote, and it worked, but none of the control keys worked.

Will I have to "learn" all of the Onkyo DVD's remote keys from it's remote?

Whether you can help with this one or not, thanks for the help to get me this far. I'm planning on making a JP1 cable shortly, and will probably do a bit more messing around.

Thanks again.

You need setup code DVD/0627 (NEC1:210.43) that apparently isn't in the 8811. So get that JP1 cable built. There is an existing device upgrade in the files for an Onkyo DV-CP500.

Beyond noob here

I just got a URC-6131, and my Onkyo DVD changer is on code 627. Is there any way to use advanced codes w/out JPI?

Thanks in advance!

DVD/0627 is built into the URC-6131. So you're in luck.

If it is, you can use advanced codes using the keymover function.
See http://www.hifi-remote.com/manuals/ofa- ... 0#keymove2

Those instructions were written for the URC-7800, but they should work just fine. Just use the SET button where it says to use the SETUP button .

I've got that part figured out. I just don't see the advanced codes for 0627 anywhere.

Is there somewhere else I can look?

Thanks again, this is a great forum!

Use KM or RM to look at the device upgrade file.
