URC 6131 and master power questions

Post by Guy Incognito »

I have the URC-6131 and I am having a problem setting up my power button the way I want it.

The 6131 has a master power function you can set up, where if you press and hold the power button, it will turn on multiple devices (receiver and TV, etc). They set it up to be a press and hold, so that if you just hit the button normally, it will just turn on whatever device is selected.

Well, I never turn off my DirectTvTivo, so I wanted the power button to turn on my receiver and TV without having to hold it. Just a single button punch.

I can't seem to be able to make it work. It is almost as if this function is hardwired into the power button. If I set it up as:

Power = receiver, TV : then I have to press and hold
Power = Receiver, Power,TV, Power, Cable sattelite : It turns the units on and right back off.

The crazy thing is that if I set it up shifted, I can press set and then power and it turns on just how I want. But I don't want to hit the set button.

Any suggestions?

Also, is there a way to make the units turn on at the same time, instead of one after another?

Finally, my remote was upgraded by URC so it has the smaller memory, is there any rule of thumb on how many keymoves or macros it will hold?

Without the extender, I don't think you can have a normal macro on the Power button.

Thank you. On your advice I set up the macro I was describing on the Thumbs Up key and it worked like I wanted it to.
