I have a 15-2117 that I was hoping to use out on my patio. I had the rf base pointed at a Xantech IR receiver in my family room and everything worked fine except for one small problem. It looks like the rf base is constantly putting out a IR signal. The IR LED on the Xantech receiver blinks all the time. This ties up my Xantech system and my Homevision controller so I had to pull out the RF base station. Does anyone have a better way to integrate the RF base station into a Xantech system? Maybe hardwire? Also is the base station suppose to put out a steady stream of IR even if no button on the remote is being pressed?
Thanks,
Carl

This is a common problem with the RF extender boxes that UEI uses with their remotes (such as the 15-2117. URC-9910, etc) and no, it's not supposed to happen.
The best we can guess is that it's caused by RF noise in the area.

Rob, thanks for the quick response. I tried to move the rf extender box around to see if that made a difference, but it didn't. As a last resort I tried another rf extender that I bought at the radio shack clearance and it seems to work just fine. There is some rf that is causing problems for the first box, but I couldn't find the source.
