Naming an Upgrade

Post by Scott Deeter »

I'm creating an upgrade for a Yamaha 5 disc CD changer. What happens if I name it the same as an existing code? (CD/0036) Will it ignore the upgrade, use the upgrade instead, or lock up?

The remote I'm creating it for, a Navigator, only uses 3 digit codes, so I can't do the "2XXX" thing.

What to do?

An upgrade will override a built-in setup code. If you want to be able to access the built-in code for any reason, you should change the setup code of the upgrade to something else, i.e. CD/0236.

Also, even though your remote uses 3-digit setup codes, the data is stored in the same way as 4-digit remotes, so you could indeed create CD/1036 or CD/2036 if you wanted to and them assign the code to the device button in IR.exe
