Need help creating RMDU file for Samsung Blue Ray BD-JM57C

Post by mitten58 »

I used my learning remote to identify all of the signals, now I'd like to create the RMDU.

When I open the file in RMIR, it retitles the buttons according to what is available on the remote. I would like to preserve the titles of the buttons on the original remote in the RMDU file.

Here is what I have:

Device: Samsung BD-JM57C Blue Ray Disc Player with WIFI

For almost all of the buttons:
Protocol: Samsung 36
Device: 32
Subdevice: 0

For the four buttons that are intended to control a Samsung TV:
Protocol: NECx2
Device: 7
Subdevice: 7

Learned signals, presented as comma-separated variables:

OBC,HEX,Button Title
0,0,DVD ON
1,7F,TV Source
2,BF,TV ON
11,2F,TV Vol -
7,1F,TV Vol
1,80,Open/Close
2,4D,1
3,C0,2
4,20,3
5,A0,4
6,60,5
7,E0,6
8,10,7
9,90,8
10,50,9
11,D0,0
29,B8,Disc Menu
32,4,Title Menu / Popup
17,88,Jump to Previous
13,B0,Jump to Next
18,4B,Fast Rewind

Rob,

This is identical to all the other Samsung BD upgrades we already have and uses Samsung36 protocol. I think you misread the post because your upgrade is all NECx2. Only OBC's 1, 2, 11 and 7 should be NECx2, the rest should be Samsung36.

We also already had an upgrade for this very model.

@mitten58, RMIR does NOT re-title all the buttons. Type whatever names you want. RMIR will not change them. Not sure why you think this is the case.

I would give them shorter names like "Red/A". Quotes, spaces and the word "button" are all unnecessary.

Doh, you're right, I wasn't expecting a mix of protocols. I have deleted the TV functions and have re-worked the upgrade to use the Samsung36 protocol

If you download from the remote, RMIR will create an in-memory device upgrade using the button names for the function names. This is one of many reasons we don't use the download-modify-upload-save process with RMIR, but instead use the open-modify-upload-save process.

OK - Now I understand. Open-Upload-Modify-Save. OUMS. Thank you.

Did you try the upgrade that I created, and if so, did it work?

Sorry for the delay in responding. Unfortunately the upgrade did not work. The file that was already posted for this some time ago DID work. I'm going to take a closer look when I can break some more time free. I suspect that my JP1 cable passed a bad bit. The fixed data value is different.

Which previous file do you mean, is it this one?

If so, the difference is that the "Param E" value is set to 7. You didn't mention that in your first post, I think it would have shown up in the Misc column.

I changed that "Param E" to 7 in the file as you mentioned - and now everything works! Thank you. (It's always the littlest overlooked thing that causes the greatest difficulty.)
