hi all -
i loaded a file for my yamaha receiver. on the BUTTONS tab, there are two columns (C & D). column c has sound formats (church, jazz....), column d has input selections (dvd, tuner, cd...)
when i uploaded to my remote (ofa 8811) all the functions in the c column worked.
what i couldn't figure out is how to "access" the shift-functions so i could switch inputs, etc.
i guess my question is how do i do a shift-function on my remote???
sorry, i'm totally new at this.
thx,
ted

A shifted function can be accessed on the 8811 by first pressing and releasing the setup button then the button that the shifted function is assigned to, For example if the function is on Shift-Power you press and release setup then power. If the shifted function is on a number button you need to press and release setup twice or else the remote will be expecting and advance function.
Setup acts like a shift button.

To use a shift-function on the 8811, you do a short press and release of the Set button and then press the button you want shifted.
Since the Set button is hard to press on an 8811, this might be a reason to start using the "Extender" (which is extra software than can be loaded into the remote's eeprom to make it more configurable). The extender lets you define a different key to be shift.

On all JP1 remotes, the SHIFT button is the "Setup" button. This button is labelled differently on different remotes, but it's always the button that you use to program the remote.
Some of it's various labels include MAGIC, SETUP, SET, CODESET, CODE SEARCH and the green P button on Radio Shack remotes.
