Changing duration of signal

Post by Sterling »

I've loaded the 6012 x3 extender into my 8810w remote and I'm having trouble with the descrite power off/on codes for my PVR 508. I have all off and all on macros that work fine without the extender but when I run the macros in the extended remote they don't work on the PVR. I think I've narrowed it down to the duration of the signal. If I make a short test macro with the X-Cancel command at the end the macro doesn't work, but if I remove the X-Cancel command it does work. The extender readme file says there are a variety of ways to change the duration but it doesn't go into details. I've read one possible solution is to use the device combiner in RemoteMaster but I can't find that option in RM (I'm using version .94). What's the easiest way to increase the duration of the signal for the macro?
Also, I hope to use the the LKDP protocol but I am getting lost trying to figure out how to use it. Are there some basic instructions somewhere or a good thread? (I'm a beginner)
Any help would be appreciated.

If I rememebr correctly the device combiner was not available in RM .94 but is in .96a.

Als, there is a beta version of IR that makes coding LKP real easy so give that a try

Well, I've installed RM .96a but it looks just the same to me. Perhaps it's because I'm looking for something called "Device Combiner" and its not that simple. Which tab should I be looking under (Setup, External Functions, Output, etc)? Remember, I'm a beginner.
Also, I downloaded IR 4.03 beta but I don't know where to look there either (Key Moves, Macros, Devices, Protocols, etc.). This could be dangerous - me working with a beta version.
Thanks

Use the EFC/HEX for any function "twice" in the macros, LKP, etc and it will work just fine.

Instruction for using Device Combiner in RM can be found here. These will be rolled in to the Readme.html file at some point.

I am having trouble with unresponsive PVR 508 with the 8810W with extender. The arrow keys in particular are a problem. I have to press them a few times before it is recognized. The red light comes on, so it can't be the key itself. Other keys seem to work all the time. The 508 works fine with the standard remote.
I suspect the duration also. Is there a better way than doubling the key code.

One way to increase signal duration is to use the Device Combiner. Instructions for using RM with Device Combiner are in the Readme.html that is included in the RM .zip file, and are also available online.

Device Combiner can also the used with KM, and information on how to use it is included with KM.

Note that you don't have to completely recreate your upgrade using device combiner. Just use RM/KM to generate the device and protocol upgrades, but don't assign any functions to any buttons. Then use RM/KM to show you the hex commands you need, and then use keymoves in IR to increase the duration of just the arrow keys.
