Panasonic ReplayTV remote - Flasing red LCD after uploaded..
I upload my Panasonic HD recorder remote control (For my Panasonic ShowStoper HS2000) with data downloaded from a compatible AT&T Replay TV remote control...
At the beginning of the upload, I got the no data in the signature message. I went on with the upload. Upload completed and data shows OK. However, the red LCD indicator of the remote control keep flashing nonstop!
What goes wrong here and How do I reset this remote control?
Thanks.

The red flashing behavior is strange (at least to me), but it looks like proof that the two remotes aren't "compatible". So you'll need to do the following:
1) Open IR.exe
2) Choose, Advanced, Purge Memory
3) Click yes on the warning box. Choose $400 as the memory size (this is a guess)
4) Upload to the Panasonic remote
Hopefully the remote LED will blink as follows: two short blinks followed by a long blink. This means the remote can talk to the eeprom, but the checksum isn't correct (that's because you purged memory). If it doesn't, report the number and pattern of blinks.
Then you need to do a 9-8-1 reset (hold down setup/magic/set/whatever for 2 seconds until you see the two fast blinks. Press 9 then 8 then 1. Hopefully you'll see 2 fast blinks, a short pause, then another two fast blinks. Now download from IR and see what IR says about the remote. Hopefully how IR.exe ID's the remote (after the 981 reset) will tell us what went wrong.

Re: Panasonic HD Recorder RM - Flasing red LCD after uploade
All the settings contained in EEPROM are remote-specific and cannot be used in another model. You cannot just copy the contents from one remote to another.dtn777 wrote:I upload my Panasonic HD recorder remote control (For my Panasonic ShowStoper HS2000) with data downloaded from a compatible AT&T Replay TV remote control...

While all the 2k/3k series ReplayTV remotes look the same, there are actually two versions of the remote out there, and it has nothing to do with how the remote is labelled (ie, Showstopper, Comcast, AT&T, ReplayTV, etc)
The endless flashing means that you loaded a "version1" file into a "version2" remote, and it had keymoves in it.
For version1 remotes, the keymove section starts at $01C, but for version2 it starts at $01D and $01C needs to be hex value "00" thru "03".
You should download the latest RDFs for these remotes. Then, when you download from the remote, IR should give you a choice of three RDFs, for your Showstopper remote select "Version2" and for your AT&T remote, select "version1", then you should be good to go.
To transfer the data from the AT&T remote into the Showstopper remote, just make sure that the raw data at both $01c and $01d is set to zero and you should be OK.

I followed both gjarboni and Robman 's instructions...
Did step 1 thru 4 from gjarboni instructions... nothing changed! Red LCD flashing continued nonstop. Because of that, 9-8-1 reset can not be perform.
I have to admit, Robman is a true master of Jp1 technique... both of your instructions are right on the targets and Red LCD stopped flashing. However, I prefer the 2nd option better because it preserved the upgrades in my ReplayTV remote.
1. Using the latest ReplayTV Version2 RDF kills the LCD flashing, but I have to reprogram my Panasonic remote...
2. Zap the $01c and $01d of RAW in my ReplayTV remote from 0B and 24 to 00, then upload the Panasonic remote works like the champ...
FYI: Download data from my Panasonic remote again to check, the values in locations $01c and $01d, that I zapped to 00, now show 03 and 00...
Thank you very much for the prompt responses.

While you're doing all this zapping, in the version2 remote that we're talking about, change the byte at $009 from "00" to "02" then re-load, that will force IR touse the version2 RDF next time you download.
For the AT&T remote that appears to be a version1, change the bytes at $009 to "01"

Sorry, that was a typo on my part (rushed typing in the morning before going to work).
You should change the byte at $009 from "30" to either "31" for version1 or "32" for version2.

Yes, that'll do it! Download from Remote now shows: "ReplayTV/ShowStopper Version 2".
In this first download, IR reports a conflict value at $01c and it asks for confirmation to change the value from "03" to "01". I select "YES", though I don't know what this value mean? (You have mentioned before. This value can range from "00" thru "03"...)
Thank Robman.

As best as I can tell, the field at $01C contains the index of the last device button used before you did a "volume lock" operation (or maybe it's all programming), but I have no idea what purpose it serves.
However, the fact that IR considers that byte to be fixed data tells me that you are not using the most up to date RDFs for these remotes.

Yah, you gave me 2 options and I have select option 2, which I used data downloaded from my ReplayTV remote (Version 1). Uploaded to my Panasonic ShowStopper remote (Versio 2). Then zap $01c & $01d as described in the previous posts.
I did tried the option 1, using the latest RDF version 1.16 too. However, when I upload Version 2(OEM30EM1) or Version 1(OEM30EM0) the Caption bar shows "Version 1". Only upload with Version 3(OEM30EM2) than the Caption bar shows "Version 2".
In addition, using the latest RDF regarless of Version 1 or Version 2. My Panasonic ShowStopper remote only work for my TV and VCR/DVD but not for my Panasonic HD Recoder. Although I changed the Device button for REPLAY as OEM_Mode with value 0224, which works with option 2.
Do I need to do any upgrade to make option 1 works?
