anyone in San Jose with a JP1 cable for sale?

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

You could always pay extra for overnight delivery or Express Mail, or you could just make one yourself.

I just don't expect that many JP1 users have spare cables, and even if one did, the chances of them living walking distance from you is pretty, er, "remote"! :)

are you kidding?!? I'm in the heart of Silicon Valley - I should be able to find a JP1 cable at a garage sale here!

Not such a "remote" possibility... I figured someone in this techie mecca would have bought a remote with JP1 capabilities and since upgraded to another remote, thus no longer having need for their JP1 cable. Perhaps I was wrong, but it was certainly worth a shot!

Well, I'm just saying that *I* would be surprised if that was true, but hey, if you find one let us know.

I still doubt that even if one is istting in a garage sale somewhere that you'll find it quicker than it would take for one to arrive by mail, which was the main concern you listed in your first post.

Heck, since the time of the original post, you could have built one by now! ;)

I am considering moving to San Jose in July of 2005. If you could wait I will bring one with me.

All kidding aside, you can order one and have it in a couple of days which will be about the same time it will take for us to stop harassing you....

Ordering not as easy and fast as one might think. I tried to contact "Hovis Direct" for information, but only have a full mailbox bounce and/or no response in return. Almost to the point of building, but guess I have to try bachelor #2 first... :)

If you can't get ahold of Richard Hovis, you can always order a cable from the other JP1 vendor, Tom Arnold at http://jp1.filebug.com

Richard's usually good at answering his emails, but he has just started a new job so he can't check his mail during the day anymore.

I normally just sell cables to people who are also buying a remote, but if you're desperate, I'll sell you one.
