RMIR and Mac

Post by The Robman »

I am encouraging someone who exclusively uses Macs to try JP1, he had previously skipped it because the mac platform wasn't supported and I am letting him know that it is supported now.

But, his JP1 remotes are all 15-1994s, which are all EEPROM remotes.

So, my question is, if you run RMIR on a Mac, does it support all of the input ports (ie, parallel, serial, USB, EEPROM adapter, etc) ? I don't know what ports he has on his Macs, but if he has a parallel port, would that work? The reason I ask is, I still have some old "simple" JP1 cables, so I would offer one to him if it would work, to save him having to buy an FTDI cable and an EEPROM adapter.

RMIR includes jp12serial for the Mac, i.e. the file libjp12serial.jnilib. I'm afraid I've got rusty on what interfaces need what files, as I've never used anything other than USB, but I presume this means that it will support a serial interface.
