Apex DVD Shift on URC8910?

Post by rocketkarl »

I see alot of talk about Apex players and the shift key in old posts, but I think their problem was opposite mine. Those posts refer to a shift key on the original remote, and how to gain access to those commands on the universal remote. My problem is with the shift function on the 8910 remote.

I have all buttons mapped where I want them for every device, except the DVD. Right now, I have the buttons for 1, 2, and 3 mapped as Disk-1, Disk-2, and Disk-3. I would rather have these buttons be the actual numerals they represent (1=1, 2=2, 3=3) and map the disk features like so: shift-1 = Disk-1, shift-2 = Disk-2, and shift-3 = Disk-3.

As I said, the Disk buttons work fine as regular buttons, so I know their device codes work correctly. But the shift feature on the 8910 doesn't work for the DVD. It does work on the 8910 in CBL mode, where I use it for shift-arrows = page +/- and Day +/-. In that case, simply hitting "set" and then "up-arrow" issues "page-up." But when I set up the DVD mode that way, hitting "set" and then "1" should issue "disk-1" but instead does nothing.

Any ideas?

To use a shifted numeric button, you need to press the shift button TWICE (Set, Set, #). That's because the remote will think you're trying to do an EFC direct-entry (Set, #, #, #) otherwise.
