newbie upgrade help

Post by quijibo »

I tried to add this http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... udio%20txt under IR devices and it keeps telling me that key moves /macro not terminated properly. how do I terminate this properly?

There appears to be an incomplete Key Move at the end of the block of code. If you delete the last 4 bytes (B1 F4 37 9E), IR accepts it.

Can you upload the saved KM file so I can take a look at it?

Also, read the sticky post about creating links to files on Yahoo (I fixed your link above).

You would use the same process you did when you uploaded that previous file to the Diagnosis area. If it's easier, you can email me the file (use the email button below). I probably won't get to it until tonight, however.

How did you upload your previous file?

That previous file was copied from the device upgrade box in KM, if this is different from what you're asking for , then I will have to plead ignorance.
This file is an upgrade to add my Outlaw pre-amp to my new Atlas DVR remote. IR took it after deleting those last 4 bytes of code(thanks Mark). So far everything is working great.
This Atlas DVR/ SA 8000HD DVR cable box are doing a great job, so far. I just had the 8000HD installed yesterday. The learning curve on the box and the remote have been very fast for both me and the wife.

Ignorance noted! ;)

What I'm looking for is the whole upgrade file saved by KM that produced that Device Upgrade Code. Did you download a file from the files area to start with? If so, which one? If not, then I want the saved KM file that you created.

There's obviously a communication breakdown here. What Mark was asking you to do is save the KM file on your PC (by using KM's "SAVE" button) and then upload that file to the Diagnosis Area.

The reason we were puzzled when you said that you didn't know how to upload files was because you uploaded the file that you refer to in your first post.

Even though you wee able to fix the problem by deleting those bytes, Mark wants to investigate what caused the error in the first place (as he's the guy that maintains KM)

Maybe he used Yahoo's "Create Text File" choice. If I'm right, then use the "Add File" choice right next to it. Then click the "Browse" button, find the saved KM file on your hard drive, type a short description and you're done.

I think I figured this all out.

I'm guessing that the file used was Outlaw Audio Model 950 Preamp.txt and then he selected the Atlas remote.

I found a subtle bug in the Device Upgrade Code display logic that didn't parse the code string properly. I've fixed that for the next release, and I think the proper upgrade code for quijibo should be:

Code: Select all

Upgrade Code 0 = 37 9E (Tuner/1950)
 5A 00 FE F9 20 FD FD EC F6 F5 F4 F3 F2 F1 F0 EF
 EE EA E9 ED E5 E4 3F AB E6 B5 A9 B7 7F BB DF
KeyMoves
 28 F4 37 9E 00 55 2B F4 37 9E 00 4D 17 F4 37 9E
 00 1D 10 F4 37 9E 00 15 05 F4 37 9E 00 05 06 F4
 37 9E 00 0D 07 F4 37 9E 00 B7 08 F4 37 9E 00 BF
 0D F4 37 9E 00 A7 27 F4 37 9E 00 F5 35 F4 37 9E
 00 C7 36 F4 37 9E 00 DF 3B F4 37 9E 00 CF 0E F4
 37 9E 00 AF 1D F4 37 9E 00 7F 82 F4 37 9E 00 B5
 B1 F4 37 9E 00 3F B3 F4 37 9E 00 27 9D F4 37 9E
 00 5F
End
However, if the Device Type is changed to Cable, the following upgrade code has more buttons mapped in the key map, and uses 10 less key moves (the Atlas has more available mapped buttons (50) with Cable than with Tuner (24)).

Code: Select all

Upgrade Code 0 = 27 9E (Cable/1950)
 5A 00 FE FE F8 70 70 61 20 FD FD EC F6 F5 F4 F3
 F2 F1 F0 EF EE EA E9 ED E5 E4 3F E0 BC AB E3 BF
 E2 E6 B5 A9 B7 BE BD 7F E1 B6 BB E7 DF B9 B8 BA
 E8 EB
KeyMoves
 82 F4 27 9E 00 B5 B1 F4 27 9E 00 3F B3 F4 27 9E
 00 27 9D F4 27 9E 00 5F
End

Mark, sorry for all the confusion. I'm pretty new to this stuff and I appreciate your patience.
Try looking here for the saved KM file.
Yes I originally got the file from the files section and that's the one.
Thanks for fixing the code, I'll give them both a try.

Congratulations! You've mastered links to the Files section! 8)

The file you uploaded is slightly different from the original (it looks like you added some button assignments). The proper code for this is:

Code: Select all

Upgrade Code 0 = 37 9E (Tuner/1950)
 5A 00 FE F9 20 FD FD EC F6 F5 F4 F3 F2 F1 F0 EF
 EE EA E9 ED E5 E4 3F AB E6 B5 A9 B7 7F BB DF
KeyMoves
 28 F4 37 9E 00 55 2B F4 37 9E 00 4D 17 F4 37 9E
 00 1D 10 F4 37 9E 00 15 05 F4 37 9E 00 05 06 F4
 37 9E 00 0D 07 F4 37 9E 00 B7 08 F4 37 9E 00 BF
 0D F4 37 9E 00 A7 27 F4 37 9E 00 F5 35 F4 37 9E
 00 C7 36 F4 37 9E 00 DF 3B F4 37 9E 00 CF 0E F4
 37 9E 00 AF 1E F4 37 9E 00 8F 15 F4 37 9E 00 9F
 16 F4 37 9E 00 6F 82 F4 37 9E 00 B5 B1 F4 37 9E
 00 3F B3 F4 37 9E 00 27
End
Again, Cable mode offers more default buttons, so that works out to be:

Code: Select all

Upgrade Code 0 = 27 9E (Cable/1950)
 5A 00 FE FE F4 72 F0 61 20 FD FD EC F6 F5 F4 F3
 F2 F1 F0 EF EE EA E9 ED E5 E4 3F E0 BC AB E3 BF
 E2 E6 B5 A9 B7 BE BD 7F E1 B0 BB E7 DF B2 B4 B9
 B8 BA E8 EB
KeyMoves
 82 F4 27 9E 00 B5 B1 F4 27 9E 00 3F B3 F4 27 9E
 00 27
End
