newbie- startup problems

Post by mikeellaby »

I'm having problems with key moves. I can download my currrent URC 6800 remote to IR, but I can't seem to make key moves for my Sat code 0869 (Starchoice). I can't find any EFC's for Starchoice in KM or Devices.
I'm also not sure if I understand the procedure in Key Moves.

You won't find any EFC's for SAT/0869 as it's what we call a 2-byte protocol (GI 4DTV).

Are you using the built-in code, or an upgrade file from KM?

I'm using the built in code with some minor learned keys and 1 simple macro. My guide key wore out so I thought I would learn in the sleep key but it's not a learnable key ( I know I know-why don't I just learn a different key). I found the JP1 forum, built a cable and have been having fun since. I thought I could just use the Key Moves in IR form starters but I must be missing something (I need the JP1 forum for Dummies)

You can do key moves in multiple byte protocols but you need to do them in hex. The guide is 84 F4. Use IR under the key moves tab select the hex radio button and make sure there is a space between bytes just like the above.

There is a 4DTV device upgrades in the JP1 Yahool files|devices|sattelite and you can load that into KM Master. Look under the functions tab and then at the column "hex"

Thanks Jon. We have to talk. 1 E-mail from you = 5 Hrs of me having funnnn. That key move worked perfect to a L key. I just wished I could find the list of learnable keys for 6800. I'm off to learn more about key master and trying to load it to IR. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions.
