You can easily add all those missing functions without a cable. Just open the upgrades in RM and enter the EFCs on the remote. You'll have to learn RM when you get your cable anyway.

Good point. I'm very rusty tho. The last time I programmed a remote, it was my old RCU810 in '05 and my 8910/6131 URCs in '07. :)

Still have my JP1 cable! I'm glad that the hobby evolved to flash chips and usb. :)

I also have no idea on entering EFCs directly on a remote. I feel like a complete newb. :)

Thanks for the tip, I'll start hunting the info in the forum.

Final 3 from 54

Post by nejpski »

Wandering how many of these were purchased by JP1ers.

The price has risen a buck to $9.99 shipped. See original link.

The last 3 of originally 54 available.

Hope all have found them as useful as I have.

I picked up one. Very nice, although I wish the transport controls were not located at the very bottom of the remote. Great deal, though!

Ditto. Thanks for posting this deal, nejpski.

I bet since this thread has nearly 1800 views at the moment, a significant number of JP1ers bought them.

I bought some.

The VRU8 is attractive, although the layout could be better (transport keys!), but the lack of an extender is really what is keeping me from recommending it.

My current favorite remote, by a wide margin, is the Insignia NS-RC02U-10A / NS-RC05A-11, which you can now get for $13.80 shipped (from China) on ebay

Can't pass up that price.. Bought one to compare to Atlas. I need a lot of buttons, but the Insignia looks like it might have enough.

I wonder if we begged her sweetly, Vicky would write an extender for the VRU8.
I used to have 5 remotes that controlled one thing each. Now I have 6 remotes that each control everything!
