I tried remapping the keys following the JP1 Beginners guide and it appears that the mapping didn't go through.
I am using the Mitsu map for 150 mapped to 1150 v7.28.
My key move for Vol + looks like this:
Bound Device: PVR
Bound Key: Volume +
Device Button: TV
Device Type: TV
Setup Code: 1150 and 0150 (I have tried both)
Hex Cmd: $3F
EFC Code: 215 (from Devices4.xls and the Mitsu Map cited above)
When I upload these key moves to the remote and then press the Vol+ button the red LED on the top of my 6131m doesn't light, as if nothing is mapped to it. But didn't I just map something to it?
Seems odd to me. Any help or direction is greatly appreciated!
Thank You!
Two Dishnetwork receivers, two addresses... hopefully...

Yes, the problem is that the 6131 uses a different format for keymoves. In IR, you m ust enter the EFC as a 2 byte hex cmd. The first byte 00, and the second byte the hex representation of the EFC. The desired EFC is 215, which is decimal. The hex representation is D7. So the "hex cmd" you enter is
00 D7
BTW, manually entering EFC on the remote is still done the same way, and if you then download to IR, you can see that this is what it did.
BTW, I also use the extender, to avoid this confusion about keymoves. Plus, I also get all the other benefits of the extender (I especially like putting macros on the device keys).

Excellent! Thank you. I am sure that is what the problem is and it should be all cleared up tonight.
I was wondering what the deal was on the PVR Extrender version, I wasn't sure if I had it or not. But now that I know I do that should open up some new opportunities for me!
Thank you very much!
Where can I donate to JP1 and the forums?

I guess your trouble was not so "odd". I am trying to do the very thing (PIP with Dishnetwork's 510 & 301 Recievers). I am hopeful you can lead me in the right direction...
I have a modified 6131 remote and I am able to "talk" to IR.exe...
However, I was confussed on a lot of the stuff detailed in this "topic"...

2.) gfb107 wrote (on Jan 21, 2004 & Jan 27, 2004 ):
3.) One last question is:
If I change my 6131 remote (and maybe reciever) will my current Dishnetwork reciever remote still work? I still want to use it from other areas of my house (Dishnetwork 510 remote is RF).
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Chris
PS: If you have any of the files you used to set your's up, I would love to plagiarize them.

What does this mean, and how did you do it? (do I need to do this to avoid cross-talk?)As a work around I changed the remote addresses to unique positions so that I could control each receiver seperately. But, I am tired of shuffling the two remotes + tv + dvd + sound.

Does this mean I need to create a new "device" in Keymap-Master and then copy that into IR.exe? You can change the remote address using KM or RM and IR. The 301 Upgrade and the PVR upgrade will have a field where you can enter the desired remote address.
(Later Post)
It's called "Unit Code", on the Setup sheet

Can't you change the address of your current Dish 510 remote to match? If I change my 6131 remote (and maybe reciever) will my current Dishnetwork reciever remote still work? I still want to use it from other areas of my house (Dishnetwork 510 remote is RF).

Success was achieved
I thought I would post the steps I went through for those interested (also, if there was a better solution, I would not mind the feed back).
1.) To ensure that the two receivers Dishnetwork receivers do not cross-talk, I had to change the Remote address on one of them. This actually had nothing to do with the JP1 format. I found on a web site (http://www.carltonbale.com/dish/remote/#dish_500) that gave instruction on how to do this with the DishNetwork 500 series receiver.) Later I also found this same information in the back of the manual that cam with the receiver. (Imagine that, if I had read the manual I would have know what to do...
)
2.) To make my JP1 remote (in my case 6131 w/extender) work on the new remote address (created in step 1), I needed to create a new device using the Keymap-Master spreadsheet. I took an existing file (from the yahoo pages - DishPVR 508 upgrade for RCU810-ID6.txt) and modified it to my liking. This included changing the remote type, changing the remote address, and moving some of the functions to different buttons on my remote. I then copied the information into IR.exe and things seemed to work.
3.) I then choose to create and exact copy of the modified KM file except with the address of my other receiver and a different device code. This was done so that buttons would be the same for controlling both receivers.
A couple notes...
I thought the documentation that came with the extender was very helpful and it made it easier for me to understand a lot of stuff... So the bottom line is, don't be intimidated by extenders. They actually made it easier for me.
The last comment is that this stuff ROCKS! I first learned about JP1 less than 2 weeks ago and in that time, I have purchased and received a remote from Rob (thanks), built a cable and successfully programmed my remote to do what I wanted (all for less than $30).
Thank you all!
