Suggestions for a new PVR / DVR

Post by stenning »

I used to use my Slingbox solo on an old digihome pvr80 which has now died. I want to buy a new cheap PVR to use with my Slingbox solo [new or on ebay perhaps] and wondered if anyone can recommend a good one to choose that works well with the Slingbox solo. I am looking for the following features:

- series link easily on the PVR

- only use while away so something cheap and HD not really needed

- Freeview unit

- IMPORTANT: easy to get a remote control for my Slingbox

Any help appreciated from existing users etc.

Thanks!

If you want "easy to get" then you'll need to refer to the devices listed in the "Supported Video Sources" tool (http://support.slingbox.com/get/KB-5000164). Those are the ones which are supportive officially by Sling Media. However, if you need to come here because they do not support your particular device, then with some effort we can probably create a BIN file for your Slingbox to control practically any IR compatible set-top box.
Remotes; JP1.2: Comcast URC-1067, JP1.3: Insignia NS-RC02U-10A, JP1.4 OARI06G, JP2.1: Cox URC-8820-MOTO (still trying to figure out how to make them self-aware.)

Hi eferz, thanks, I looked at the list and there doesnt seem to many on there? I suppose I was also asking for some suggestions on what other users have as a pvr and how easy it was to either get an official remote or one from this website? Comments appreciated. Thanks!

Any users with Humax as they seem to get good reviews for example?
