JP1 Remotes

I've got a bunch of URC-11055 remotes from my cable provider, Shaw Cablesystems, including sig 10251025, 30003000, and 30333033.

According to the user guide that came with all remotes, there are a number of setup codes that may work with my Panasonic DVD player: 0490, 1490, 1908, 1925, 2017, 1462, 1907, 1910, 1990, 1362, 1762, 1909, 1986, 0632.

The problem is, the 30003000 and 30333033 remotes don't seem to like the codes in the 1900s or 2000s. If I program using the remote itself, I get a long blink of the device button indicating the code was rejected. If I try using JP1.x, when I read back the code I programmed, it reverts itself to the default (0503). Interestingly, the 10251025 remote takes the codes just fine. My DVD player works several of the setup codes in the 1900s, but not the lower-numbered codes.

Could UEI have "forgotten" to include the codes in their later remotes? The user guide has quite a few codes for several manufacturers in the 1900s and 2000s. I'm just fortunate to have gotten into the whole JP1 thing; as a regular consumer, I would never know why I can't program the remote, if I had been trying to program the (current) 30xx30xx.

You've just perfectly described the problem with using 4 digit codes to describe an upgrade. They can be different from one remote to the nexte next. This is especially true when you jump processors.

I went into the ofausa.com site and looked at the cable line remotes. I chose the ocap, because I KNOW that one is a 3033, JP1.3 remote. I went to the interactive site for DVD's and typed in panasonic.

Maybe that BOM number on the stickers, (BTW thanks for that explanation), indicates a wrong pull for the manual to be packaged with the remote.
