JP1 Remotes

I use the JP1.2 cable with the USB adaptor. At least I THINK its a jp1.2 interface (I bought it from Rob last summer).


I've used it to work with my JP1.2 remotes, and I've read the signatures off a bunch of JP1.3 remotes.

In my latest batch of remotes, I got some JP1.1 remotes. At least they say JP1.1 on the board and the sticker seems to indicate a JP1.1. I was going to toss these, since I don't have the JP1.x cable. But for the heck of it I plugged them into my cable, and I can read the signatures just fine.

I was under the impression that a JP1.2 interface wouldn't work with a JP1.1 remote.

So now I'm thoroughly confused.

Some remotes are mislabelled as JP1.1 when they are really JP1.2 remotes. The Cox 7820 and URC-39860 come to mind.
