Ok, I give up trying to find out why my Denon 3808 does not respond to the 8910 (B02). I hope you guys can help.
I am trying to assign the dedicated command for 'Auto' input mode which is OBC code '115'. I downloaded the RM upgrade file for the 3808 from the devices page and loaded it into RemoteMaster 1.78. Then I go through the procedure of setting up a new function and assign it to a certain button (M1, L1, 0, 1... I tried several ones). Copy and Paste into IR and hit the upload button. But the receiver does not respond. What's the problem? I did a similar procedure for a Sony TV before without a hitch....

... I should mention that none of the commands in the upgrade file work.

Upload your IR file and to the diagnosis area and make a link to it and some experts will take a look at it.

And make a link to the upgrade you are using.

As mentioned above, it is usualy MUCH more helpful if you include links to your "misbehaving" files (after you've uploaded them to the diagnostics area of the File Section), but your description seems to omit assignment of the Device Upgrade to any Device button on the Setup page in IR. Did you forget to do so?

As far as assigning to a device button goes, IR tells me that no device has been assigned after I paste the code from RM but then asks if I want to do it now. I answer 'yes' and choose AMP/RCVR. I'm not really sure where I can check that the assignment really happened.

Does the setup code on the generals tab have anything to do with it?

Yes, the Setup Code on the General Tab must match the Upgrade (as it does, in your case). You need to upload the RM file also, as there is no way to tell from the IR file alone whether you have imported it corectly.

Meanwhile, while you are waiting for someone to analyse your IR and KM files, have you tried LEARNING a signal from your original Denon remote and decoding it in IR to see that it matches the upgrade you are using?

I will upload the RM file later today. The original remote does not have a discrete button for the 'Auto' input mode, only one that toggles through the various modes. So I cannot use it for the learning method.

When you say that the upgrade doesn't work, do you just mean that the new AUTO button doesn't work or do you mean that the entire upgrade doesn't work?

If it's the latter case, you should learn some buttons from your original remote just to confirm what signals it uses for the regular buttons.

This statement is why I initially thought perhaps you were simply not assigning the upgrade to a device button, but you were. The next likely problem is that your actual RM upgrade is somehow wrong. That is also why we are asking you to learn a few signals from your OEM remote so that they can be compared to the upgrade, which also needs to be seen in order to facilitate this comparison.

Following your advice, I have used the orinigal remote to learn 3 separate IR signals: Auto, Analog and Ext-In. The 8910 learned these commands sucessfully, and the receiver responds as expected.

So, where's the IR file so we can see what the learned codes look like? Remember, the purpose of learning the signals was so we can verify if they use the protocol and device codes that we're expecting.

Here is what I tried next: plugging the 8910 I downloaded the IR signals to IR, and in fact all three previously learned signals show up. Interestingly, there is a 'Device' column on the Learned Signals tab which shows '2' for the 'Analog' input whereas it is '12' for the other two modes.
I tried to edit one of the learned buttons but there is no place to enter the new EFC code.

Then I started a new RM file from scratch which only contains one function (Auto) which is mapped to key L4. After copying and pasting the code into IR, the default key names on the Devices tab show up as unmapped as expected but the L4 does not show up. Odd....[/img]

I just downloaded this file and looked at it, but there's no learned signals in it.
