Ive tried to search for the answer but I cant find one.
Is it posible to load an extender onto a remote if i dont have a jp1 cable. THe remote im using is the 8910 and I was hoping its posible to load the extender via WAV file, like an upgrade.
Also, if I already have some learned functions on a remote and load an extender will they be deleted?

Yes (theoretically, but it isn't easy and I've not heard of anyone actually doing it) and yes.

1) The extender is distributed with a different "signature" that the base remote, in order to help IR.exe figure out which RDF file to use.
When using a JP1 cable, the remote does not care about the signature. But when using a .wav file, only the original signature will work.
So to use an extender via .wav file, you must make a modified version of the extender (hex file and rdf file) using the original signature instead of the extender signature. Then you must use some other method to tell IR.exe which RDF to use.
2) If you load a .wav file with either the whole eeprom image or the learning area, that will overwrite all learned functions in the remote (so they would be lost).
3) An extender via .wav file would require the whole eeprom. So you could use factory reset or loading a non extender image to get rid of the extender, but you couldn't get back the learned signals you had before the extender.

Ok then. I guess I'll live without an extendor, considering the only thing i really watned from it was the pause function for my macros. The guide I read said you could make pauses using KM without an extendor but I couldnt figuer out how...

1) Fire up KM
2) Select "Pause Protocol (Special)" as the protocol.
3) In the Buttons sheet, select OBC mode
4) Go to the "Protocol Help" tab and read the instructions.

ill try that, but is there a way to do it in RM because i already set everything up in RM.
EDIT: Nevermind, if i understand correctly I can import part of th update from RM and part from KM ans have them both work together in IR.

You need to transfer upgrades individually from RM or KM to IR.exe anyway, so there should be no problem than one upgrade is in KM and the rest in RM.
I don't know if there is a protocols.ini entry for pause (which is what is required to do it in RM). If there isn't, it should be easy for any expert to copy it there from KM.

Pause protocol IS available in RM, as well.

Ghost, just to emphasize a possible learning point, can you see how the question you asked in this original post would not necessarily lead to accomplishing what you were REALLY trying to achieve?
Had you initially asked "How do I insert a Pause into a macro?" You would have been pointed immediately to the Pause special protocol in KM and RM.
It's usually most useful to both the questioner and a potential answerer when the question is "what you hope to accomplish", and not about what you may or may not believe to be a MEANS by which to accomplish it.
