JP1 Remotes

URC8040/8060.
Are there any suggestions on how to use the JP1 connector on these remotes as the connections are directly under the batteries?

Hovis Direct used to sell a special adapter for the URC-8060 and 15-2133 Kameleons, but I don't thnk either of the current vendors makes it.

Now that is a clever adapter!

I have found the most sucessful system on my 2 Kam 8060s is to use a small ball of solder wire (or other such metal packing material) to extend the - side batteries so that they protrude beyond the backing, then use a strip of metal (L shaped angle iron) to make the connection between the batteries.

The L shaped metal angle can be pressed against the batteries, to create a connection, whilst with the other hand, the JP1 cable is held in place.

You then have to hold steady, whilst trying to use the PC mouse to run IR with your third hand, or a suitable volunteer!

It does work, but I bet one of those adapters would be a little better!!

Thanks for your help all. BTW, is the 8060 the same as the 8040 where the batteries and pins are? When I was in the shop and looked at it I thought the battries were over the JP1 holes, but that picture from Robman they are not.

I haven't seen a URC-8040 so I don't know. The way it works for the 15-2133 and URC-8060 is that the battery cover has the battery terminal connector on it (ie, the one the completes the connection from the first column of batteries to the second column). How was the URC-8040 configured? Did you try putting batteries in it?
