8811 vs 8820

I use a 8811 since two years ago with JP1, but it's scratched, broken and soiled.
I'm planning to replace this by 8820 or buy another 8811.
If I buy a 8820, I'm obligate to buy a JP1.x Cable.
If I buy a 8811, I have my JP1 Cable.
My questions are:
- Is the 8820 better than the 8811 ?
- Is it faster ?
- Does the 8820 have other advantages ?
- The macros on the 8820 are they faster?

8820 has less keys. I have both ( and an 8910) I use the 8910 just because it has the extra keys. Don't know/care about the other stuff.[/code]

Yes, the 8820 is a JP1.2 remote.
Is the 8820 better than the 8811 ?
Well, it uses the latest UEI technology (flash memory) and has a more current code library.
Is it faster ?
If it is, it's probably not noticeable to most users.
Does the 8820 have other advantages ?
That remains to be seen. I don't think it's been expoited to its full potential yet (i.e. there's no extender for it).
The macros on the 8820 are they faster?
Not noticeably so.

The only advantage the 8820 has over a non-extended 8811, is the capability of macros on device keys.

With the price of flash memory these days, I'm wondering why a $15-25 remote can't have pleany of memory to learn every button in every device category.
I mean, if I can get a 1GB (8Gb) usb flash drive, packaged, at walmart, for $13.47, then i'm sure a 256KByte (2Gb) chip can't be all that much.
Ah, nice to dream eh?
Oh, I know, how about a remote with a SD/MMC or other type of flash memory slot?
Damn, I better stop.
