This is a Radio Shack LCD touch panel remote. It has a 6 pin connector under the battery door that has what looks like "JP1" stenciled on the circuit board below it (hard to tell - it is partially obscured by the case).

Is this a JP1 remote? If so is it to old to be useful?

If you buy any kind of entertainment critter on eBay the remote is ... gone. In particular I would like to get some remote working for:

Yamaha HTR-5250 A/V receiver (tun code 0176 partially works)
LG LST-3510A HDTV/DVD (found file LG_LST-3510A_HDTV_DVD)
JVC HM-DH30000U DVHS VCR (vcr code 0067 partially works - found file JVC HM-DH30000U D-VHS for URC-9910)

I do not have the original remote for any of the above. So I need ALL the functionality from the original remote. Am I barking up the wrong tree with JP1?

One of my problems with the VCR is that I also have an HR-S3912 SVHS VCR. They both respond to the same codes. The manual for the 30000U lists a key sequence to switch it to an alternate code set. Of course I don't have one of the buttons in the sequence. Also don't seem to have any way to do a timed recording. If there is a "DVHS" button on the original remote it would also be nice to have.

I am missing the set menu and time/level menu and the adjustment buttons for the Yamaha receiver. Also missing the DSP (sets the number buttons to select surround effect) and Input (sets the number buttons to select input source) buttons. Think one of the Yamaha files has these?

I either have not tried to set the 2107 to control the 3510A or I could not find a valid code.

What does the "for URC-9910" above mean? This only work in a URC-9910?

What is BBCode?

Any plans to support Linux? Is the source for the tools/apps available so they could be ported?

I could reinstall Windows 98 on the laptop if necessary. I do not have Excel. Would I be wasting my time trying to get a JP1 remote to work?

Hi,

I forgot to ask:

If you push the program button twice the LCD display shows "SHIFT". Anyone know what this thing is doing?

And why does the lower left button say "mode\nshift"?

The 15-2107 is an older model JP1 remote that really doesn't have much going for it compared to the newer models. It supports the basic device upgrades, key moves, and macros. Off hand I don't recall if it is a learning remote or not.
