IR7.0 beta2/URC-8820 JP1.2 Learned Codes issue

we have successfully been uploading and downloading to the URC-8820 for a few weeks now.
but we've been having trouble getting it to upload the learned codes from the remote into IR7.0.
specifically when we download the remote into the computer it will transmit all the 4 digit setup codes and macro settings perfectly
but the learned signals will often only show up in IR under the TV device key even though on the remote they are functioning under the DVD device key.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I'm not sure whether one of the other experts could diagnose the problem on that description alone.
There is a good chance they would need your .ir file, and since so many different incorrect rdf files have been passed around for the 8820, they probably need that as well.
It is best to put them together in a .zip file and upload to the
diagnosis area.
correct 8820RDF?

actually I think that would be the first place to start.
I'm using 10631063 (URC-8820).rdf
every learned signal comes up as a TV command and gets wiped when I go to upload it back to the remote. Even though I'm learning them under other devices and they work under the proper devices until I upload it to the computer.
I'll upload a zip file later today.
but for now what's the recommended correct 8820.rdf?

You are missing the following entry in the [General] section of the RDF:

The name of the rdf doesn't tell us much. It's the contents that matter.
Probably binky123 has given the correct answer for why you get this specific problem. But if that is wrong in your rdf, there are probably other things wrong as well.

I don't know where/whether there is an official correct rdf. I posted the one I use at
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3801
So far as I know that one doesn't have errors and the ones posted by others do have errors. But some other experts may disagree about that. If so they should tell me.

well the RDF we were using did have "LearnedDevBtnSwapped=Yes" in it
so that wasn't the problem.
I also tried the RDF file johnsfine listed but they seemed identical and the same problem occurred.
here's a link to the .ir file and .rdf we've been using
a full diagnosis description is in the readme.txt file

Thanks for uploading the files I requested. Your response and those files make this look like an IR bug rather than an RDF bug.
I forget who is maintaining IR.exe at the moment. It looks like binky123 uploaded the copy at
IR7.00 (beta3) so maybe he is. Hopefully he can figure out what is going wrong.
I don't know whether the raw data in your .ir file is what was actually uploaded by IR.exe (so it would be correct and only its interpretation on the learned signals tab wrong) or whether IR changed that data before you saved your .ir file. I know how to find that out with my own 8820 and some tricky experiments. But I don't know when/if I might have time to do that. If no one else solves this, remind me to test that.

Please make sure the RDF path is set correctly to the new RDF that has the above entry in it. Open up IR7.00 (beta3) File->Set Directory->RDF Path.
I just tried it on your .IR file and when I don't have the entry in the RDF, all the learned signals display as on the TV device button. When I add the entry into the RDF, the learned codes all appear as CBL/SAT.

I sure can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, so I won't be surprised if digitalkemist can't either.
I was using 7.0beta2. I just changed to 7.0beta3. That made no difference.
There is only one 10631063...anything.rdf file on my hard drive. The RDF path is set correctly and IR.exe is finding it and it includes
LearnedDevBtnSwapped=Yes
When I open that .ir all the learned signals display as on the TV device button.

Your RDF has an extra trailing space for the LearnedDevBtnSwapped=Yes entry. Delete the space char and IR7 (beta2) or IR7 (beta3) will recognize it and make the appropriate changes in the Learned Tab.

I seem to recall that being a problem a long time ago and thought Mark Pauker had made IR (or was going to) more "forgiving" when parsing the RDF. Personally I think it would be a good idea regardless.

That worked.
Now all the learned buttons are in CBL. That isn't correct either.
Assuming IR.exe is correct and the RDF is now correct, that means the raw data was broken by downloading into IR while the RDF was wrong.
So to see if it's really fixed digitalalkemist would need to get the correct RDF first, then download new learned signals from the remote.
I updated my copy of the rdf at:

Muchos Gracias!

Hey just wanted to let you know that fix worked perfectly. Thanks for the help from both of you.
My boss was severely impressed with the response time on that fix considering it's free software and we've been waiting for years for some some of our software fixes from vendors we've spent craploads of money with.
If you're ever in Anchorage I'm buyin the beer.

I forgot to mention that FavKey is supported now in IR7 (beta3). Add to the [General] section for the 6820,8820,10820 RDF
