JP1 Remotes

I am building up my first HT system. I have been reading over on avsforums, which is how I found this whole JP1 thing, which seems quite cool.

My system will be fairly basic, some of it I still haven't acquired:

Westinghouse 32W6 LCD
Oppo 971
Panasonic SA-XR57 or SA-XR55 (or HK AVR-240)
Tivo Series 2
possible HDMI switch
possible HTPC (maybe replacing the Tivo, as I would like HDTV record/play)

I was considering:

URC-8910 (has an LCD)
URC-6131N (Tivo/DVR version)
URC-8811 (green backlight)

I will be using the Tivo a fair amount, but don't care a lot about the unique "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" buttons. They are nice, but not a strict requirement.

I like the backlight idea of the 8910 and 8811, but the 6131/6131N seems good also.

Does the 6131/6131N have backlit buttons?

Any other advice or opinions?

No, 6131s do not have backlit buttons, but, like the 7800, are a joy to use due to a really nice button layout. The old style is better in my opinion. Major drawback is no learning, so if this is your first remote, you may find that it'll be rough to supplement/change the existing upgrades for the equipment you list. Also, you will need to add eeprom - so if you get this, get it from Rob, The Site Owner, all ready to go.

8910 has backlight and is great. There's also a HTPro version 9910 which is 8910+RF. If 8910, make sure to get the kind with separate buttons for the arrow keys, not a ring around the Select key. The LCD screen is very valuable, mostly for debugging your creation, less so when watching stuff.

8811 is the favorite of most experts on this forum.[/b]

I'm going to get the 8910 from Robman. I also thought the LCD could be useful, but didn't consider the troubleshooting angle. It seemed similar to the 8811. Any differences worth noting?

Once I get my 8910, I'll continue the learning process.
