JP1 Remotes

I have a functioning jp-1 remote included with my vizio tv, the sticker in the battery compartment id's it as URC3440BG1, IR.exe says it is a Replay version 1 remote (it is not a learning remote). the RDF for the Replay Remote is a close match but I'd like to come up with a better RDF for this Remote. How do I build a RDF?

If IR recognizes the remote as a Replay remote, it means you have a "Catalyst 34" remote where the only difference to the regular Replay remote is that the buttons will be labelled differently.

Therefore, what you need to do is create a clone of the Replay v1 RDF (the names begins with OEM3OEM). Keep the first 7 chars of the name but change the rest to describe your remote.

Then open the RDF using a text editor (like Notepad) and change the button names to match what's on your remote.

Also, look for the following piece of code in the RDF:

$009 = $31

and change it to ...

[FixedData]
$009 = $33

When you are done, and you're happy with the RDF, please load it to the RDF folder.

This was brought up once before here, but nothing came of it. It's a Vizio branded remote, IR detects it as a replaytv remote and asks me if it's v1, v2, or 'unknown'. Then asks me if i'd like to replace some conflicting data at 0009 (which is "30" for this remote, acccording to raw data).

This thing basically looks like a replaytv v2 remote, except it has six more buttons in the square at the bottom, and the button marked "ReplayTV" on the replay remote is the Setup button on this thing, and the one marked "CodeSet" for replaytv is AUX. And of course several of the other buttons have different labels.

Where to start? Is there a page or document somewhere that explains what i do to go about adding the additional six buttons? The rest of the job seems obvious (wrt updating the fixed data, changing button names).

The main thing that we know is whether your remote is most similar to a version 1 Replay remote or a version 2. The difference is where the advance code section starts, to find that out, do the following...

1. Save a copy of your current IR file (to restore from later).
2. Do a 980 reset on the remote.
3. Download using IR
4. Go to Raw Data, Tools, Set baseline
5. Do a 994 keymove on the remote.
6. Download again
7. Go to Raw Data and see what cells are red, then report the results in the forum.

Has the JP1 header already installed, and 7 upgrades (0080, 0018, 0019, 0020, 0022, 0023, 0024).

Just an aside. That is the oldest Vizio remote, the only one with all the functions. I have a similar one with a silver face. no pins, just the pad. I programmed it with a POGO adapter. None of the current Vizio remotes are JPI, not universal, haven't been for 3 or 4 years.

fwiw i selected "replaytv unknown version", eeprom size set to autodetect, selected 'no' when ir asked if i wanted to replace with fixed data.

It appears that your remote is the same as the Version 1 of the ReplayTV remote, so I have created a starter RDF for you based on that:

When IR asks you if you want to accept the fixed data at $0009, accept it, because then IR will always select the right RDF.

Your job is to verify all the button names, and to add the codes for the 6 extra buttons that this remote has.
