Which function code to use?

I've read the FAQs and looked through the Code lists and so on, but can't find an entry for my Thomson DHD4000 DVR, which is quite new. So I've started to look to setting up my URC8040 myself using the JP1 cable I've bought and the IR and Keymap utilities I've downloaded. So far so good. However I have a couple of questions that I haven't seen answered yet.

I'm using my JP1 remote to learn the codes from the Thomson remote, and then downloading them into IR, but in most cases I'm given a choice of codes. For example, the Stop button gives me a range of 4 different protocols, but one of them is Thomson, so I guess that's the obvious one to use. However for the Thomson entry it says:

Device 5
Subdevice [blank]
OBC 9
Hex Cmd 6C or B6
EFC 049 or 127
Misc T=0

If I want to use EFC codes (I maybe don't but not sure yet) which code do I put into KM - 049 or 127 or doesn't it matter?

Another strange thing. I code my FFwd button on the JP1 with the learnt code from the Thomson remote, and it switches on FFwd correctly. However, when I use the original remote, if I hit FFwd again, it goes to 2x speed, then again produces 4x speed and so on. It's the same with the Rev button. However on the JP1 remote, this just doesn't happen. It'll go into FFwd or Rev mode correctly, but hitting the button again doesn't have any effect. Why would this be?
