Hello everyone,

I am trying to program a volume punch through for my 15-1994 remote. I currently set my VCR to control my pioneer DVD player and I properly programmed the VP through to control my sony TV. I currently have my Cab/Sat controlling my replayTV. However, I cannot get that device to control the volume for my sony TV. I tried to mannually program the punch through using "P" and 993. However, when I try to use the volume buttons for the cab/sat device (replaytv), the red led lights do not blink. Can someone help me program this in? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

VPT does not work unless the device type of the current device's setup code is the same as the default device type for that device mode.

I assume the setup code has device type VCR and the device key is CBL (with a default device type of CBL).

There are three possible solutions:

1) Use three KeyMoves instead of VPT to make the Vol keys in CBL mode control the TV's vol functions.

2) Replace the setup code used in CBL mode with a new upgrade that has device type CBL, but has the same button assignments. Since the CBL vs. VCR layout is different, that might change which KeyMoves are created by installing the upgrade. On a 15-1994, I think VCR vs. CBL is the same set of keys in a different sequence, so it wouldn't change KeyMoves. But I haven't checked that carefully.

3) Use an extender. I think one of the 15-1994 extenders gives you more controlable VPT.

I changed the location of my ReplayTV to device "VCR" which solved the VPT problem when I am using that device. However, I had to move my pioneer DVD player to device "Aux2" which caused my VPT from working when I am using that device.

So...I've checked through the help files and I couldn't find any iformation on how to perform keymoves. Can someone refer me to a document or a thread that talks about that? I am not sure how to upload that keymove into IR.

I think I created the keymove code by binding the receiver volume keys of Aux2 to my TV volume keys. But what do I do with that code once I am done? Plus, you noted three key moves but I only did two. I bound volume up and volume down. I don't know of a third one that I need to do.

Thanks for your help by the way. As you can see I am pretty new at this.

The third volume key is Mute.

You can "copy" keys from one device mode to another maually on the remote itself using these instructions. Make sure to download from the remote once you've done that to update your saved IR configuration.

If you know the EFCs or Hex commands for the volume and mute commands, you can create the keymoves yourself in the Keymove tab of IR.
Just specify that you want to bind the keymove to device AUX2 and key VOL+ (or VOL-, or MUTE as appropriate). DOuble click on youtr TV device to prefill the Device Type and Setup code fields with what you've already assigned to your TV, then enter the EFC or Hex, making sure to select the matching radio button.

Now upload to the remote and you are good to go.

VPT doesn't work on the AUX1 and AUX2 buttons, so you need to program those manually using learning or keymoves regardless.

We weren't suggesting that you move your Replay to the VCR button, we were suggesting that you re-create the upgrade as a CBL code and program that to the CBL button.

Before you ask questions like "how do I do keymoves", please read the manual...
