Onkyo TX-SR702 remote - maybe a JP1 remote

Post by Feuerbard »

i have new onkyo receiver TX-SR702E (buying in Europe ) - it has new remote (learning and preprogrammed code include) , 3 battery supply and 6 pin pad under plastic cover , inside i find unknown RC1407611 CPU and Atmel 24C128 eeprom , JP1 pads are right interfacing (Reset , SDA , SCL , VDDu2 ) but no have Gnd and VDDu1 (pads are no connected)

what next i need to do - eeprom dump on my external programmer or something to detect JP 1 interface , i am old JP1 user (Kameleon 2133)

My gut feel is that this isn't a UEI remote. I found a picture of the remote here and it doesn't look like the sort of remote that UEI would make, plus I've never heard of them using a 16k EEPROM chip before.

However, if you 6 pads are aligned correctly, you could try soldering a 6-pin into place and see if you can download from it. If the pads are not aligned correctly, you could solder wires onto them with a 6-pin on the other end. If it's not a UEI remote, you may well be able to download the data, but it won't mean anything to you and you won't be able to edit using IR.exe.

Did you have any further luck with this?

I also have this remote and would love to be able to device upgrade it with the 1444 codes for mythtv and the power and input select codes for my projector Epson TW200
