help entering codes for kameleon remote

Post by volvo type r »

Hi,

I have Clearmax Cable box, trying to use it with my Kameleon universal remote. I'm following the instructions on this page:

http://www.hifi-remote.com/cgi-bin2/uei ... l_clearmax

I can get past the 1st step, where entering 0037 causes the power to turn on/off. Can somebody help me get to the next step in mapping the individual buttons on the remote? I don't know which menu to enter on my remote to do this.

Thanks in advance :)

I assume you're doing all this without JP1. That's possible, but you'll use up a lot of the remote's KeyMove memory. It's much easier if you use a JP1 cable. If you don't use a JP1 cable it's easiest if you use JP1 software to create .wav file to load an upgrade through the remote's "modem". Neither of those JP1 ways involves using the 0037 setup code, though the list of EFC numbers is useful. If you want to do it one of those JP1 ways, ask again for specific details.

The non JP1 way (which does require that 0037 setup code) involves creating a KeyMove for each function to assign it to the desired key. The method is pretty much the same for most models including the Kameleon. That method is documented for the 15-1994 here:

Q1. Are you a JP1 user? (I'm assuming you are as you posted in one of the JP1 forums, rather than the "General" forum).

Q2. Which model of Clearmax do you have? The trick I describe on the page you linked to is specifically for the 3000, it won't work with the 2000 and I have no idea whether it would work with the 6000, etc.

f***, sorry no I'm not a jp1 user, nor do I know what that is. I was given the link that I posted by another board. They said that worked with the clearmax 6000, but they all entered the key codes with lower versions of the "One For All" remote. I can't translate their directions to get it to work on my kameleon because it is a different remote--- here are the directions if anyone can help translate them (These directions are for URC-4640):

Press the device key
Press and hold SETUP (wait for two blinks)
Enter 9-9-4 (wait for two blinks)
Press SETUP (pess it long enough to see led blink)
Enter the 3 digit code
Press the button to be assigned

--- So can anybody translate those directions to Kameleon remote? Sorry If I posted this in the wrong forum, obviously im a lame noobie... heh... once again I have clearmax 6000 and this link i've posted is verified to work... i just cant figure out how to put the codes in for the different buttons.. thanks in advance.

ok, in case my question was confusing, I have a better way to phrase it:

I went to the link posted by johnsfine- I am trying to do 16. Assigning advanced codes.

How can I use the process listed with the Kameleon? The directions don't seem to work because the remote is different.

Thanks for bearing with me..

Then these are the steps:

2. press and hold SETUP for two blinks
3. press OTHER
4. enter 9-9-4
5. press device
6. press SETUP do not hold
7. enter advanced code
8. pick a key
