RNG200 (CABLE 1982) Device issues with RCU-810?

Should the XMP protocol and cable 1982 device upgrade be working on the RCU-810?
I've tried the official 1982: https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6301
and also the RNG200 rmir file: https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6232
both give the same results:
enter cable mode, press any key, remote hangs and continually sends the signal for the pressed key until the battery is removed.
I tried learning and decoding a few signals from another remote and the learned signals match up in RMIR to what is supposed to come out of the upgrade. The learned signals don't work when I try to use them from the RCU 810...nothing is sent.
I have the most recent RDF file, I'm certain. I'm not sure if I'm forgetting something or there is some trick besides remembering that +17 offset. The replayTV and roku and Onkyo upgrades I loaded work fine.
It's not a big deal. I have other working remotes, but the used 810 I have actually has a nice working backlight...
