My "new" well it's 3 years old by now doesn't have a parallel port anymore.

I have the old parallel EEPROM interface and if i can get it to work with a USB to Parallel Printer IEEE 1284 DB25 25 pin adapter cable that would be great since they only cost about € 2,50 eacht with shipping included.

Any chance that would work?

Slim to none. I've never had any luck with those. Parallel PCI cards work fine though. They can be had for around $15 US. If you have a laptop, a parallel PCMCIA card should work, but those are usually much more expensive than a USB JP1 cable (or JP1.3 cable with JP1 adapter).

Sorry, no.

You don't mention if you have a laptop or desktop. If the latter, you can use a PCI or PCI-e parallel port adapter, again depending on your computer.

In my opinion, the best choice would be to buy a USB Interface Cable for JP1.2 or JP1.3 (Flash) Remotes and a JP1 EEPROM Programming Adapter for JP1 (EEPROM) Remotes from Tommy.

It's more expensive, but you get compatibility with all known JP1 remote interfaces and any PC with a USB port. I don't see USB ports becoming extinct in the foreseeable future as has happened with parallel and serial ports.
